Ideas to Ponder On A Saturday!

I don’t know about  you all, but it sure seems as if Saturday rolls around more quickly than it use to.

Are you ready for some Great ideas?

Here we go……….

This idea is so logical, I really can’t believe I did not think of it before…..

This should help out next time you go to hang a picture.

Toothpaste! Mark it with toothpaste! Genius!

Speaking of walls how do your baseboards look?

If you need to beef up your existing baseboards, or if you just need to hide them because they are less than attractive, this product is for YOU!

This base board is made to fit right over you existing baseboard. Genius!! Boy, this will save some of us a lot of work. My hubby also brought up the point this would be great to run your cable or speaker wires, out of sight out of mind!!

I drink a lot of water every day. I like lemon or lime in my water, but when I have a bottle of water I usually skip adding it, but now I don’t have too!

Seriously! Some people just think of everything. This is one of those that I said out loud, “Now, why didn’t I think of this?”

Drinking water is good for our health, and so is eating properly.

We all want to teach our children how to choose good foods to eat. I thought this next idea was a great way to not only teach your child, but to give them the control of making good choices for themselves.

A Lunchbox center!

Each drawer holds pre-selected (by Parents) food  that they can choose from.

The only rule is they must take only one from each drawer.

So however you break up the food groups for their lunches, that is how you would create a drawer and the selections that go in each is totally up to the parent, but the child feels as if he is making the choice.

I think this is a win-win situation, eating properly and teaching how to make choices.

Speaking of the kiddos, if you have a little one that is going into the big-kids bed, and you are just a wee bit timid about the possibility of them rolling out of bed.
Take a look at this!……..

A big noodle that is normally used for the pool is placed under the fitted sheet, and it will prevent a roll out of bed.

I think the concept of this idea is great. The look, not so much.

You could make it much more attractive, but the concept is to get the shoes off the floor and this works. Just make it prettier, Okay?

Speaking of attractive, I love this next idea for your kitchen……

Emily Clark made these for some inexpensive art for her kitchen. I just thought this was adorable.

Speaking of kitchens and DIY art, this next idea is a great concept.

Isn’t this a cute idea. I am not crazy about the frame but I love the concept.

This next idea is kitchen related also………

I love this piece. Baskets are so useful and attractive and this is a great way to store your potatoes and onions.

So there you have it, some ideas to ponder on Saturday.

Easter is , only one week away, Yikes!!!

I will leave you with this one last bit of information. If you are having Easter dinner, and you need a reminder on how to properly set the table here is a good diagram for you……

That should keep you all busy for the rest of the weekend.

Have a wonderful weekend with family and friends.

Mother Nature Does Blue and White

Is there anything prettier than the natural color of an egg? I love the image above showing the variations in blues and greens. I think Mother Nature is  a wonderful place to gather inspiration.

The soft hues in this glass bowl full of eggs is beyond beautiful to me.

I marvel at the beautiful colors that Mother Nature has to offer.

After taking the cue from Mother Nature I decided to go with a very soft blue and white color scheme for my Easter table. Simple and easy to find! NOT!

The hunt began for the perfect soft shade of blue. None were to be found.

In my last ditch effort I did what anyone in my position would do, I gave it one more try, and Googled, Pale Blue Table Cloth, and this time I was lucky, and just in time, I might add.

I found it! A table cloth, and napkins still in its original condition, never been used…….

This is the 20in. napkin, there are eight of them. You can see it has a tone on tone pattern. I could not be happier, it is perfect for my Easter table.

I am still not quite sure what I will be doing, but now I feel like I can go forward with my plans now that I have a tablecloth to work with.

So this years table will be in the soft blue and whites of eggs.

Here is some more blue and white inspiration……….

What Does the New Button On my Sidebar Mean?

I hope you will take the time to read this post, it is near, and dear to my heart.

MasterDesigner-button-teal-square

I have added a button on my side bar. It is a button that says I am a Master designer.

It does not mean I AM a master designer, but I am a designer that was made by the MASTER.

I recently found a blog via one of my reader’s recommendations. It is Fieldstone Hill Designs written by the lovely Darlene.

Darlene has started a series called:

(click on above image to go to the series.)

You all know I don’t recommend something that I don’t truly love myself. This series is no different than me recommending a pretty element for a room, except for one big huge difference……..

.....What Darlene writes about is near, and dear to my heart. She has written two blog post in the series so far, and I highly recommend that you follow along.

Now, back to the button that says  I am a Master designer.

Darlene wrote out a mission statement that articulated exactly how I feel about being able to have a life in design, and the place that design has in my life.

Design has been a wonderful part of my life, and that is why I named my blog, “Good Life Of Design.”

I look at the life I have been allowed to live, and enjoy, as a true gift from God.

As I read the mission statement I actually wept, because it resonated with me deep in my core.

This is the Mission statement :

Master Designer

“I am a Master Designer.

I love Beauty;
I see potential and I want to fill it with beauty.
I aim to create something beautiful that is worthy of joy.

Design is a high calling, one that can improve the lives of others, be a means to foster relationships, and add much joy to my family.

I appreciate fine and lovely things, but they are not my treasures.
I know what is truly important, and
I do not aim to “store up my treasures here on earth.”*

I live to bring glory to God, the Ultimate Master Designer.

He created Beauty.
He created all beautiful things.

And, He created my passion for design, and set that joy in my heart.

Everything that I create,
and have created,
is because I myself was created by a Master.

I am a Master Designer.”

*{verse reference, Matthew 6:19}

This wonderful mission statement has come to me at such a perfect time in my life, and I am so grateful that once again, God used my blog,  “The  Good Life Of Design,” to take me on  another wonderful journey. I hope that you all stick around to see where it takes me.

Life is a journey, and along the way we will meet many people that we will influence, and they will influence us.

It is important to keep your heart and eyes focused on God, and his purpose for your life. In doing this, you will have an incredible journey, not always perfect, or without heartache, but one that will take you to the place you were always meant to be.

After all, we are all in this together!

What Is Behind Door Number???

Numbers, I love numbers!! I thought I would share a little something I did in my home using numbers as a design element that is quick and easy for anyone to do.

Have you ever been a guest in someone’s home, and you ask where the bathroom is, or where is the room that they would like you to stay in? They will say something like, “ It is the 3rd door on the right.”

You go down the hallway open the 3rd door on the right, and you wind up in the heater closet.

Then you realize she meant the other right!! It will totally depend on if you are coming up, or down the hallway, which doors will be on your right.

I had the privilege of having two blogging friends spend the week with me this past Fall.

You know how it is when you have company you do all those little projects that you have been meaning to do?

My little project involved numbers and doors.

Numbers on doors 006 (600x800)

You might recognize what is beyond door #1. My master bedroom……

Hubby and I had a bit of a debate on where to start with number one, at the beginning of the hall or at the end where our master bedroom is. You can see who won!

Numbers on doors 009 (600x800)

Behind door #2 is our den. We have the computer, recumbent bike, and a comfy chair to watch TV. This room is also transformed into an extra guest room by bringing in a blow-up mattress when needed.

Numbers on doors 005 (600x800)
Door #3 is shut for privacy issues!

Numbers on doors 001 (800x584)
Behind door #4 is the most fun room in the house. The playroom. This room is used to play in and for sleep overs.

You might remember it……

The sofa makes out into a double bed for sleeping.

There is also another sleeping and reading nook in the room.

So there are the newest additions to the numbers I use in my home as a design element. If you ever stay here, you will be able to find your room easily.

Now I am on the hunt for words for the laundry room and guest bathroom!

Do you have any numbers in your home?

If you would like to start using some numbers come back, my next post will be on ideas for using numbers in your home. I will also show a few more numbers in my house.
