Shut the front door! Emerald Green has entered the building!! You all might remember the post I did in January claiming Emerald/Kelly green as my own personal color of 2012.
I had plans on adding just a touch of it to my home. I have one particular room that it would look perfect in and that is my black and white bathroom…..
This is our guest bathroom it is done in all black and white, with Carrara marble, and absolute black granite checked floors.
The piece I got for my bathroom has special meaning to me because it was once in the home of my friend Terri from La Dolfina blog.
I will never forget the first time I went to her home. There it was in a beautifully displayed curio cabinet. It made the whole vignette come to life!
Terri has a keen eye for display, and a wonderful design aesthetic. I don’t think she realizes just how talented she is….
See it there on the right? Isn’t her display amazing? She has changed it recently to something a bit more neutral. Lucky me, because I was the lucky recipient of her cast-off.
I normally don’t buy something unless I know exactly where it will go in my home. I have been told by many that I am very well edited. Not sure if that is good or bad.
Anyhow, this is one piece I bought with my heart. I was so drawn to this piece when I first saw it. I knew that I would find a place for it in my home.
Isn’t it wonderful with all of its knicks, and worn off paint? It has a Chinese scene carved into it. The base is plaster, and the top is wooden. The Emerald/Kelly green is bright, cheerful and a perfect companion in my black and white bathroom.
I am beyond excited to have this charming piece in my home. Plus I will always think of my friend when I look at it, that is another fun part about the whole thing.
Here are some more pictures I took of my new baby………
It is just the perfect size for this corner. I love stacks of towels so this is another added bonus.
Isn’t she a beauty? I realize that not everyone will love it as much as I do. I think either you love Chinoiserie pieces or you don’t. I happen to love them so the style, color and size were just perfect for me.
My hubby thinks I should paint it black, I told him,”NO!!” it is perfect and it is the green that was what I was so drawn too.
I got this at Terri’s Prop Shop sale on Thursday. I also bought a few other pieces that I will share with you this week.
Her sale was displayed so beautifully. She had refreshments for everyone. I was amazed at how personable she was with each person that was there.
Upon leaving she would make sure they had a little map of places to go and have lunch. This was no regular garage sale.
I honestly could have purchased more goodies, but I had to stop at some point. If you live in the California San Francisco bay area I highly recommend a visit.
One more thing I would like to give a shout out to CATHIE! I got to meet one of my readers. She came up to me and said, “ I know you!”
I thought maybe Terri had described me to one of her friends. She proceeded to tell me about how she reads my blog everyday. I was so thrilled beyond words to meet a reader in person. Just wanted to say,” HI!!! to Cathie, it was so nice to meet you.”
“Enjoy the Process!” Of:
