For those of you who read my blog on a regular basis, you know that I am in the middle of a family room re-do.
It has been a really fun and exciting project for me, and at times frustrating, but the end results are always pleasing to me.
One of the elements in my room that got a new look was my over-mantel.
My mantel spans over 17 ft and it has an antique over-mantel from the early 1900’s.
This is a collage of the change in process…..
We need to add a bit of height since we took off the embellished top.
We played with several pieces of moldings…..
When I say we,
I should be saying Hubby!! I designed it with his help and he did all
the cutting, caulking and painting, but I did stand back and give my
approval, that counts, right?
Over-mantel with it's new top......
Here it is from all different angles. I am so pleased with the results, and I actually think it looks a bit more elegant like this.
By removing the embellishments it has opened up so many more options for the sconces, and other elements on the mantel.
You will notice on the left side of the mantel there is a missing sconce…….
Next big decision is lighting!!
I have three choices to choose from.
Come back and see my choices!
