The Importance Of WORDS

words

Since I am a blog author it is pretty obvious that words are important to me.

You wonderful people out there that are reading the words I write must think words are important too!

From time to time I do a little internal evaluation. You know the kind where you check in on yourself, and evaluate how things are going on in your own personal life.

When I do my evaluations I get little internal messages in the form of words. It might be a saying I have heard before many times, but for some reason at that moment in time it becomes my own personal message.

Last year this is what came to me…….

images then what
I started putting this at the end of some of my thought processes, and it would quickly put things into perspective.

For instance…….. I am going to get those darling new
shoes, and then what?
Well, if I am being perfectly honest, nothing life changing.

They will eventually just become another pair of shoes that I get rid of because they are no longer in style or don’t feel good on my feet.

See what I mean? It kind puts things in perspective of importance, doesn’t it.

It also helped me evaluate how much time, and personal energy I put into things.

When it was all said, and done it was the people in my life that really fell into the important column.

 This Years Words

This year is a little different for me. I am not quite sure why this thought process comes to my mind so often, but these have become my words for this year….

I know this is a biggy, and not always so easily practiced in our lives.

I know we like to think that we are always true to ourselves, but we have so many influences in the media that tell us to be one way, or another. With fashion and design trends we can get lost.

If we are not careful our true self never will emerge.

Along with this saying I have read a few other sayings that go hand in hand with this one that I would like to share with you today………

For me I must always  remember what is at my very core….

So my dear friends I am going to continue to try, and be true to who I am, and more importantly, who God made me to be……

Always listen to your own personal words they are there for a reason.

JUST ANOTHER MONDAY

Monday’s are funny little days for me. It is usually filled with a little of this, and a little of that. I don’t put any pressure on myself on Mondays.

I will usually do what I call, “puttzing around the house!” Since it is a random Monday I thought I would do a random post.

A post with a little of this, and a little of that!

I love a good detail in a room, don’t you?……..

What a wonderful gallery wall. Doing the frameless black, and whites in an over-sized scale makes it almost like it is a wallpaper with dimension. Love this detail!!

Check out all the molding detail on the outside of this garage door. I love the dentil molding under the facia board. The columns are a very nice feature especially with the lantern!

NEXT…….

I really think I want to get this chambray shirt! I like its uncomplicated style, and I truly think it would be a nice addition to any wardrobe!

I am being very practical, and only wanting some staples for my wardrobe! Don’t you think? Chambray shirt, black turtleneck top. You can’t get any more practical than that!

Something a little less practical………….

Darling vases from Anthropologie. My favorite is, “let them eat cake.”

NEXT........

I love a good idea, don’t you?

For all you young Moms or even Grammies, this will make it easier to check on a sleeping child without waking them up. I sure could have used this with my first born. He would wake up with the turning of the door knob!!! I think he had super-sonic hearing capabilities.

This next idea is ONLY for a book that is totally thrashed, and of no value any longer. I am not advocating tearing a  perfectly good book apart to do this…….

If you happen to have a book that is falling apart, how about using the spine to make a lovely book mark!

Next we have some things

3 without

Bobbi Brown Brick shimmer in Rose! I have used this for years and I am never without it or……..

I use this after I finish styling my hair, just a few spritz and my hair is shining and smells wonderful. Try it, I promise you will thank me later!!

That is it for my randomness for today!! I hope you have a wonderful week doing whatever you decide to do or not do!!!

TRENDY SATURDAY!

I have been noticing a few trends in the fashion world. I am not sure I will be incorporating all of them in my wardrobe.

However, there is one trend I am on the hunt for, and it is a trend that I have been wondering when it would be showing up again.

You all know that saying that what goes around comes around again. Well, this one trend is just that!! I wore this trend in elementary school and junior high.

The Peter Pan Collar

The way I see myself wearing this trend is under a black cashmere sweater. I love the contrast of a white collar. This would be a great way to highlight the Peter pan collar, and maybe a strand of pearls too!!

Ankle-strapped Shoes
The other trend I have been noticing, but will not be wearing is the ankle strap shoe. I am a bit sad that I can not wear this trend (ankles are just too big!) because it is so feminine, and pretty on those of you with thinnish ankles.

Isn’t this a fabulous color? Oh how I wish I could wear these shoes.

My DIL actually pinned this shoe, and I thought it was adorable, and just had to share it with my readers.

Now, she has the ankles to wear this shoe, and to wear it well.

If you want to see some darling style boards be sure and go to her Pinterest page. She has great style in fashion and in home design. Just click HERE!

I don’t know why, but I find this shoe very sexy!
Speaking of shoes!! I love a good Segway!!

BROGUES

When we were in Paris I saw these in all the windows of the shoe stores we passed.

I am kicking myself for not getting a pair of grey suede/leather combination brogue that I saw, and admired.

I can just see these with a pair of wide legged camel pants, and a crisp white shirt and a great belt. Gold chains for a necklace, and hoop earrings. A simple gold bangle on my wrist!!

You all know how much I love black & white!! I had to pin these shoes, aren’t they adorable?!

One last pair to show you, and I would wear all of these that I am showing you……

Cobalt blue is a color I enjoy wearing so I know these would be a fun addition to my winter wardrobe!

FOXY

I am not sure I will be wearing this trend, but you never know. I did pin a couple of pieces of jewelry that are kind of fun.

I find wearing a trend in a small item can be fun, and not too over the top.

This is a cute hinged bracelet by Tory Burch.

These are all trends I have been noticing more and more so I thought I would share these with you on a Saturday morning!!!!

Happy Saturday!!
