The Importance Of WORDS

words

Since I am a blog author it is pretty obvious that words are important to me.

You wonderful people out there that are reading the words I write must think words are important too!

From time to time I do a little internal evaluation. You know the kind where you check in on yourself, and evaluate how things are going on in your own personal life.

When I do my evaluations I get little internal messages in the form of words. It might be a saying I have heard before many times, but for some reason at that moment in time it becomes my own personal message.

Last year this is what came to me…….

images then what
I started putting this at the end of some of my thought processes, and it would quickly put things into perspective.

For instance…….. I am going to get those darling new
shoes, and then what?
Well, if I am being perfectly honest, nothing life changing.

They will eventually just become another pair of shoes that I get rid of because they are no longer in style or don’t feel good on my feet.

See what I mean? It kind puts things in perspective of importance, doesn’t it.

It also helped me evaluate how much time, and personal energy I put into things.

When it was all said, and done it was the people in my life that really fell into the important column.

 This Years Words

This year is a little different for me. I am not quite sure why this thought process comes to my mind so often, but these have become my words for this year….

I know this is a biggy, and not always so easily practiced in our lives.

I know we like to think that we are always true to ourselves, but we have so many influences in the media that tell us to be one way, or another. With fashion and design trends we can get lost.

If we are not careful our true self never will emerge.

Along with this saying I have read a few other sayings that go hand in hand with this one that I would like to share with you today………

For me I must always  remember what is at my very core….

So my dear friends I am going to continue to try, and be true to who I am, and more importantly, who God made me to be……

I am so grateful that I got to see this post, Kathy Sue! I really like THIS YEARS WORDS! It is sometimes hard to not compare when we are surrounded by such creative people with such wonderful blogs! But I really believe what you are saying... and being our very own selves sure gets easier the older we get!
Thanks for the great reminder.... and self check!

Hi, Kathysue ~
Totally agree! Even though I help my clients with their homes, I always say pick what you love....I'm not the one living here.....and, if you love it, it will always be in style. Thanks for sharing :)
Happy Wednesday!

Kathy Sue,
Such a warm reminder -- always listen to your own personal words they are there for a reason. When our children were growing (all three flown from the next now), I saved their words--stories they wrote, notes they left on the frig, found notes in their rooms, notes tucked in cards or under my bedroom door and eventually their emails. I collected them and put them in folders for each child. When I did their memory boxes, I included that folder of words and on the front wrote: "you know what to do, who you are, what matters in life. Read your own words and trust." Those memory boxes will be "found" or given when I am not here to remind them to trust who they really are.

A beautiful post and we all should pause and reflect.
I must say, though, that I adore all the shoes you pin on interest! I love your taste!
Have a great day.

As I get older, and hopefully a little wiser it is easier to be true to myself. I am who I am. ALOT of STUFF has happened in my life but it is what has made me who and what I am. I hope I am a better person. I try to be. XO, Pinky

This was presented beautifully and is uplifting. I am trying to listen, and the older I get the better I hear! Thank you, I'm writing many of these down.

Great thought provoking post! I love the one that reads "The only person you should try to be better than, is the person you were yesterday. How great is that! Love the bottle with "life whispers, listen closely" Amen to all of it!

Wonderful post Kathysue and beautifully written. Words that I am reminding myself on a daily basis lately are, Progress not Perfection. I tend to put so much pressure on myself to be"perfect" at all things and situations.

Thank you so much for this beautiful and thoughtful post. The one that most resinates with me is "True beauty emanates from a woman who boldly and unabashedly knows who she is in Christ." My blog is based on this statement and principle, that we are beautiful inside and out because of our relationship with Christ and that we are truly His reflection. I hope you don't mind my using some of these thoughts in my own blog tomorrow because you reinforced what I felt I was supposed to share this week. Thank you. You continue to be an inspiration!
