Valentine’s Day is only one week away so if we are going to do anything special now is the time to get it done.

There are so many fun ideas out in blog land that we could incorporate into our homes to make Vday seem more special for the people we love.

I had to start with this Vday cookie. It caught my eye with its black and white stripes. Just look at the details on this darling cookie. 

No, she does not bake these to Sale, but I sure wish she did. You can click on the link under the picture to see her other baked delights. She really should start a business on Etsy. I would love to buy these!

Take an ordinary meal and make it special and full of love.

One year when my guys were little I took an ordinary meatloaf, and made it, and the mashed potatoes in the shape of a heart. It was so easy to do, and the kiddos loved it.

I Really Need Your Opinions On This One

   

There is so much being written about the soon to be demise of Google Friend Connect that I felt compelled not to be a techy, and tell you all about it, but rather tell you how I plan on dealing with it.

There are two types of Bloggers in blog land, “BLOGGERS!” and “BLOGGERETTES.” 

BLOGGERS

You will notice one word is bigger than the other. That is because there are those that are big time bloggers with lots of  followers that will really  work at creating more traffic in order to promote their blog for advertising purposes.

Not to say that they don’t entertain, and educate at the same time, but they have attached their blogs to advertisers, and sources to get their blog name out there in blogland.

These bloggers are using their blogs as a business of sorts. I commend them for doing so, and we all know that there are those who are really big enough to make an income doing so. They are the heavy hitters in blogland.

Bloggerettes

Now the smaller blogs, or Bloggerettes  like me, are blogging for a creative outlet  in hopes of inspiring, entertaining, and possibly teaching a few along the way.

We all have so many questions and concerns pertaining to this subject.

I am definitely not an expert in this techy world of blog land, but merely a person that is using my logic on how I will be  approaching this situation, and how I will be taking care of the Google Friend Connect demise on my own blog!

You will notice on my side bar I have a subscribe by email option.  I have always ascertained that this is probably a truer representation of who is really following along with me on my blog journey. These subscribers want to be sure they don’t miss one of my post by getting them sent via email.

This is probably the easiest and most straight forward way for a reader to follow along with our blog post. By putting their email address in the slot they will then become a subscriber via email and each time I write a post they will receive it in their inbox.

I know there are those that do not want their email jammed with blog post so there is another option on my sidebar. It is a way of getting my blog via an RSS feed.

Right now I only have it for Google reader, but I have  contacted my blog designer, Elizabeth Chaffee from the Mustard Ceiling blog about adding more RSS feeds so that you may choose which reader you would like to receive my post in.

If and when Google Friend Connect goes away so will the number count of followers. I am not sad about this at all. I find myself fixating at times about the numbers or the lack of numbers, and I never wanted to be, “ That blogger girl!”

I have thought about taking away the number many times, but did not know how to do it without making all of your images go away. I like seeing your faces over there on my sidebar!

That is the one sad part about GFC going away, all of your faces will disappear also.

So with all that being said I have a question for all of you my dear readers………

“Which readers (RSS feed) do you like to receive your blog post on?!”

I figure if I get your opinions I can add the most popular readers, and limit the amount of feeds on my RSS feed button.

Please leave me a comment I really need your feedback on this one.

I also want to thank each and every single person that follows me through Google Friend Connect, via email or through RSS feeds.

Pumping Up My Spring Wardrobe On A DIME!!

I am so looking forward to Spring, and I am already adding a few pieces to my Spring wardrobe.

As it is in designing a room,  it is also a good idea to see what the trends and colors are in fashion.  Once you get enough information, then you can figure out a way to incorporate the colors or pieces you will like into your own wardrobe.

There are always  some fun, and inspiring things on Pinterest. I already told you about my one DIL who actually has a board for me on her Pinterest boards where she has pinned some really wonderful images  of wardrobe ideas for me.

I too, have a few pin boards for some personal friends, clients, and my two DIL’s!!

Today I got an email from one of my DIL’s, and she told me she  had found some really cute trendy accessories over at Forever 21. 

I know, I know, when you hear the words Forever 21 you automatically think of the younger set.

Don’t dismiss it so quickly, yes it caters toward the younger set, and yes the items are very inexpensive, but for passing trends why not shop there.

I do not profess to be a professional stylist or trendsetter, but I do read a lot of style blogs, and you would be surprised at how many styleista's will throw in a Forever 21 piece with a designer outfit, and look like a million. 

It pays to study images, and see how you can do the same look for less. Notice in the above image how you can put pieces together. I think this is a great example to follow. One  basic,classic,statement and one budget and/or trendy piece. This is a great formula.

Below you see two anchor necklaces. Same theme, same look, but slightly different. Would you rather pay $5.80 or $78.00? Which necklace do you think cost the most #1 or #2?

Statement necklaces are all the rage this season. If I am buying a classic piece I don’t mind spending good money, but if it is a trendy piece I do try to be reasonable by finding something less expensive.

Another way to make a statement in our wardrobes and pump them up a bit is with scarves.

 Sorry but I just got the biggest kick out of this image because she is wearing some of the hot colors for this spring. cobalt, Kelly green, and bright pink. This goes to show you that we can all try a little harder to stay current no matter what our age is.

 Wearing scarves are not just for the young as you can see in the above images. If you are not sure how to wear a scarf  take about four minutes to view the video I have pinned here on one of my pinterest boards.


Earlier today I saw where a fellow pinner had pinned an image from Tarjay declaring her love of their Spring scarves.

I love the way blogland works, one person sees something, mentions or pins it, and then another, and another.

I wonder if all of these stores realize how much free advertising they are getting from us bloggers/pinners?

I just had to share some of the fun finds I have found in cyberland. 

In this economy we all need to watch how much we spend. I just wanted to show you all a post that shows what I think are some fun pieces to add to our Spring wardrobe that won't break the bank.
