The big debate is going on in my mind. Decisions need to be made about what to do for accents around the bed.
I am a lover of light so a mirror has always been in the picture. In my previous set-up I had two mirrors on the bed wall, one on each side of the bed above the night stands.
Right side
Left side
I love these mirrors, and would gladly use them again, but they are a bit under scale for the size of the bed.
The other dilemma is one nightstand is a bachelor chest which is wider than the nightstand on the left so the spacing on the wall is different.
I love symmetry so the new spacing is a bit more obvious that it is different because of the width of the King bed vs. the old Queen bed.
This made me look at some new options…………
I absolutely adore this room, and the round mirror above the bed is perfection. Notice the scale of the lamps! They are a good proportion for the size of the bed.
Don’t you think most people’s lamps on their night stands are too small? I really noticed that when I started looking around.
This is one of my favorite looks for a master bedroom. It is designed by none other than Phoebe Howard, who can do no wrong in my eyes.
Love the reading lights peeking out of the bed curtains. She also used lamps! The more light the better for me!!!
The only problem with this look, is it is a bit more formal than the relaxed look I am going for.
This is another good example of lamps being in scale with the bed. Love the mirror above the headboard. What a handsome room.
This is the actual catalog image from Ethan Allen of my bed. They chose to do a center mirror above the headboard too.
With this new look in mind, I went looking for some round mirrors that could possibly work……..
NUMBER ONE
NUMBER TWO
NUMBER THREE
(More rustic than the others but interesting!)
NUMBER FOUR
NUMBER FIVE
I am sure I will find other options, but I think these are all good choices.
I had my hubby bring in a round mirror from my family room to see how it would look, and as he is hauling it down the hall to the bedroom he announces………
“I can tell you right now I am NOT sleeping with a mirror above my head! If we had an earthquake it would kill us!”
SERIOUSLY!?
He is not willing to die for good design?
It looks as if Kathysue has some mighty big convincing to do!!
Just for the sake of What-ifs??? Which mirror do you like the best????

I really like number 4 and 5! I think they are a bit different and really interesting. Oh, I can't wait to see what you do!!!

I don't know why men have to be so practical! I love the mirror over the bed, and if it's heavy enough, it probably won't go flying off the wall...but what do I know about earthquakes anyway...I'm in Texas! I totally agree with the bedside lamps. Scale is everything as well as functionality. Most lamps aren't big enough to provide good reading light from the bed. There I go with that functionality thing again! Maybe Doug and I aren't too different after all!
Well, since you asked...I love #5!! Those beveled edges are fantastic...good luck convincing Hubby! I've got a large landscape over our bed, that's quite heavy, but we don't live in earthquake territory!! ;)
I like #1, but it might be too small. It resembles the one pictured with the bed. Wisteria has another one, maybe too large 41" called Sunburst. Would 41" fit the space better, or one around 36"???
Suggest to Hubby you leave some space between the wall and the headboard so that when the quake hits, the mirror will fall to the floor behind the headboard :)
I like number five with the look of vintage mercury glass.
I'm sure that whatever style you choose that your bedroom will look fantastic.

Oh, I was hoping you would ask us! I have to vote for the first one! I'm a big fan of sunburst mirrors! We have several antique ones in at the moment! I loved all of the bedrooms and I love Phoebe's style as well…I have those same sconces behind our bed curtain as well as lamps because I am a light freak! Loved this post! Can't wait to see the finished product!
how about 3 porthole mirrors above the bed? I think I've seen some on Ballard Design and West Elm used to have some. I like trios myself. The trinity! That could be a persuasive point with hubby! But do you know what the trinity means? how could you not like that in our home? you get my drift . . .
we have a problem! thanks to my rearranging the master bedroom. NO room for nightstands on both sides of king bed. only on one side. Thus, no room for lamps! BUT it works in all other ways . . . . Surely there are wall sconces out there, barely there sconces, that would work.
HELP!!!! I LOVE balance symmetry so this is clearly not symmetrical. We do have a mirror over our bed and I love it (and hubby hung it and said not a word).
Love #3! Simple and elegant.
Someone else had done a post about things over the bed and earthquakes... Janell maybe? So I guess it IS something to be considered..maybe?
btw: I found some wonderful, fun, colorful and comfortable shoes (for Paris, this is), so check my blog tomorrow. I'm def. buying some!
I like 4 o5 5, they are all lovely and your other mirrors are beautiful too.
I really like the contrast of the round mirror over a rectangular bed. I think I like the last rustic round mirror best. Good luck!

I love them all but I think 5 is def my favourite, good luck with the husband convincing :-)
HAHAHAHA.
i love your reaction to his concern! i like the rustic one best. in fact, i'm going to check it out. i have never hung a mirror over the bed. in fact, i have never hung anything over a bed, always opting for a stenciled quote which has never budged during an earthquake!
love to you.

p.s.
your comments always make me smile and i wish i lived near you because you are a perfect partner for a joyful chic revolution!
I have to agree with your husband, Kathysue, lol! I would probably just hang it really well, with molly screws, etc.
These choices are gorgeous.
Happy Tuesday.

OH my GOSH... you got your bed! Love all your ideas. Cant wait to see what mirror you end up with.
That's funny that he won't sacrifice his life for a good design. So many choices.
Beautiful choices, but number FOUR is the winner I think.. elegant, different and a "mirrored" mirror, what could be better? Great- they are all fun, and good
luck convincing your husband- maybe with his
favorite PIE ?

I got a chuckle out of your husband's comments! I would use any mirror you chose. They are all really gorgeous! I can see the direction your bedroom is going and it is very very classy! It will be a true haven when you are done!
great inspiration rooms and i really like all the mirrors, but #5 is probably my fave.
Hi KS! I love #4,
love the Phoebe
Howard room and
am in total agreement
about most pics in
mags and catalogs
showing lamps that
are way too small!
Along with lovely,
soft sheets, I need
good lighting for my
room to feel like a
total happy cocoon!
Happy Weekend,
xo Suzanne
Lot's of good choices...I like #1, #2 or #3 the best...
Husband's...can't live with or without them...
Whatever you choose it's going to be fabulous!
I love number five! But...your hubby does have a point! lol Is there a way to attach it so it can't fall? Happy weekend!...hugs...Debbie
Number 2 gets my vote. I sure would bolt it in to some studs though. Not a pleasant thought about it falling on you. ;-)
I think a candlelight dinner and some nice music will help that along :) I agree....so many tiny lamps next to a king bed. That is really one of my pet peeves. I do love the thought of a round mirror over the bed....it helps soften all of the straight lines of the large king.
