A Nature Inspired Christmas!

I have been looking around for inspiration for all of you and I have noticed that it appears to be the year of a nature inspired Christmas this year.
I claimed that natural kraft paper  will be the wrapping of choice for many this year so it is only natural to do a nature inspired décor to go along with it.

Many of you live in the part of the country where you can go out your back door into the woods and cut fresh greenery. There is nothing better than fresh cut greens the smell is wonderful.

For those of us that have to find ours elsewhere such as nurseries we might be a bit more limited in our findings. Always remember those long garlands can be taken apart and the pieces can be tucked here and there to add a touch of green.

PINECONES

Pinecones are such a wonderful textural element to add to your décor. I love it when they are mixed with a little bit of sparkle.

I know many of you love antlers! In this image the antlers are added to this lush garland with greens, pheasant feathers and pinecones. My friend Marty found pheasant feathers for a good price over at Oriental Trading Company. You will get 24 feathers for $10, that is the cheapest I have ever seen them.

I think the simplicity of this cloche arrangement is perfect!!

FRUIT

I also love when fruit is used in garlands or wreaths. I love to see the Williamsburg decorating. Their use of fruit and greens is amazing.

Tobi Fairly did an amazing job in keeping with your color scheme by using citrus in her garland.

SUCCLULENTS

Another trend I am seeing is the use of succulents….

I think these are so clever and fun!!

SHELLS

If you love a Coastal Christmas, the use of shells can be equally as festive as shown in this garland……..

For those of you who like the unusual, how about this…….

I fell in love with this unique look. I think she would be stunning in an entry hall.

Will you be using some of what nature has to offer you for your Christmas decorations this year, or will you be going towards the sparkly side, like me?!!

Hi Kathysue,
This post really struck a chord with me because my Christmas decor is all about organic, nature inspired decorations. Always has been! I went to HMB to the nursery today and got paperwhites and little Christmas trees, garland and wreaths. Can't wait to deck the halls! xo Delores

Last year, I went almost 90% natural, and only added some silk greenery and faux berries as needed. I loved it. The smell could not say Christmas more. The only problem is that when using organic, you can't decorate as early and clean-up can be a B&^CH! lol

Next year, I am going to buy a cheap live tree (our grocery stores sell them for about $24.95) and cut off all the branches for decorating. I am also experimenting t his year with floor wax as a preservative.

I just loved these inspirational pics. Thanks for sharing. Love and hugs, Barb

So many beautiful examples! Love them all.....especially greenery and pinecones. Something everyone can do, and its so festive and I love the "nature-esque" element it brings into the home.
Lots of beautiful ideas here.

I love natural elements during the holidays. My mom has dozens of pine trees and a few holly bushes on her property so I always make a run to her house before I decorate to snip some evergreen boughs and holly and to forage for pinecones. Lots of inspiration in your images.

I always think that as much as I love some glitter, the natural holiday decoration really do always look the best. Great inspiration here KS!

These photos are so beautiful, Kathysue. I love this natural look this season. I've seen it before, but the photo of the two little pine cone trees in the square tin pots is a favorite of mine. If I had a little more time this year, I would try to figure out how to make one.

Funny that you mention kraft paper...........I was in a local paint store today and they had this commercial roll of kraft paper that painters use.........and I seriously though about buying it!!! My very favorite gift is wrapped in draft paper and satin ribbon!! Love the contrast!!

Love that double hanging wreath with red ribbons - GLAM!

Yes! I love natural decorations and have my glittered pinecones nestled into boxwood and greens. I'm keeping things fairly simple this year.

love the cloche arrangement best of all. Definitely simplifying this Christmas -- kept back at least 1/3 of the decor I usually put out and all of that will go to GoodWill tomorrow. Good stuff, just too much and I'm not there now.
