I Want Lighting That Is Out Of My Price Range, HELP!!!

Lighting is the jewelry of any room. Since I purchased my new king-sized bed I found that I needed to upgrade my lighting to accommodate the size of the bed.

This started many days of looking. I am not going to make a final decision until I get back from Paris in the Fall, but I did find a light that feels like ME!!!

I know, I know these have been used in a kitchen, but there is no fast and hard rule that says I can’t use them in my bedroom!!!

There is a problem!! A big problem!!!!

The Big Price Tag!!!

These lights are from Circa lighting, which has unbelievably beautiful lighting! Lighting I would love to purchase, but, and it is a big BUT!!! The light is over $1,000!! and I need two of them. Can you say Ka-ching!!!!!?

I know price is relative, but in this girl’s reality that will NEVER happen. Hubby will never understand why lighting cost almost  as much as the headboard and footboard.

So dear readers if any of you know of a light that looks like this one for much, much less, please let me know!!!

What Is Simple-Understated Elegance?

There is a term I use frequently when describing the design aesthetics that I prefer, and hopefully have achieved in my own home……Simple Elegance, or Understated Elegance.

This is a term that might not have a clear definition in the dictionary, but the words…..

Restrained

Graceful

Refined

Tasteful

Harmonious

Timeless
.

…..all come to mind. I think once we see a room with these qualities we will almost always recognize it as, “Simple, or Understated Elegance.”

I like my home, and even my wardrobe to reflect this aesthetic.

Over the years I have grown to realize there is a very, very fine line that is easily crossed if one is not careful when trying to achieve this look.

Once crossing this line the room, or outfit will no longer fall into this category of Simple-Understated Elegance.

Today, I would like to show you some examples that I believe exemplify this design aesthetic……

This first image is not of an interior, or an outfit, but of an outdoor entry.
As simple as this  looks it exemplifies so many of the reasons I mentioned above that represents, Simple- Understated elegance.

It is timeless, graceful, harmonious, restrained,  tasteful, and timeless.

As you look at all the following images, keep in mind the definition words I gave, and see which one’s you think apply to each image……..

Even though this image has primitive beams it still exudes simple, understated elegance. Notice the timeless pieces and the gentle curves of the the furniture. Simple, restrained, beautiful.

This next image is one of my all time favorites…….

Another favorite!

Before I leave you today I must mention a blog that exemplifies, “Simple Elegance,” completely and honestly.

Tortoise Shell A Fall Wardrobe Staple

When it comes to color you will not see me in brown clothing, but you will see me in combinations of brown and black in accessories.

I love the look of tortoise shell. The combination of browns and blacks are intriguing to me. I find it to be classic and timeless in my wardrobe.

When I was just 12 years old I got my first bracelet with  a tortoise shell look. I still have that bracelet 50years later, and I still wear it.

Today I thought I would share a few pieces that are on my radar…..

I love this handsome watch. It is simple and classic in every way. Notice the cute detail of the date being on an angle for easy viewing, so clever!

If you prefer round watches this one is for you. I am loving the mixed link chain look with the gold and tortoise.

Such a pretty bracelet. I love the little gold details at each corner.

Trina Turk did a wonderful job designing this cocktail ring. I could see me wearing this for years to com.

I actually ordered this over sized bangle, and I love it. It has a matte gold universal monogram with a little touch of bling with a Swarovski crystal. Another fun classic for my wardrobe. It is also hinged for easy taking on and off.

Marc Jacob’s infinity bracelet would be a fun piece to add to any wardrobe.

Leave it to Ralph Lauren to make such a beautiful, timeless clutch. This would be such a fun piece to carry.

The ever-classic tortoise shell sun glasses.

What's not to love?!

Another timeless beauty!

With Fall right around the corner I am finding my mind wandering towards all things tortoise!!!

How about you?

Do you have a Fall staple for your wardrobe that never lets you down? You know the one piece that makes you  feel like a million bucks when you put it on.
