I  have not done a Sale Alert post in quite awhile. It is that time of year again.

Neiman Marcus is having it’s “PINK SALE!”

I try to pick up 5-10 new towels every year at these great prices. Plus they are monogrammed and you all know how I have a slight obsession with monograms and typography.

Here are the two styles I have purchased in the past and have been very happy with both.

The first option offers colored towels with choice of thread colors.

Ralph Lauren Greenwich reg. priced $20.00 now $11.49 with monogram or $9.99 without.  It measures 30in. X 56in. A nice size bath towel and very absorbent. This selection gives you color choices.

Since I am a white towel girl this option suited my needs beautifully, and it is a little more economical. You only get two color choices, cream or white with cream or white monogram. I choose the white towel with the cream monogram and love it. The towels are a nice size and very good quality.

Ashemore by Sferra priced at four towels for $39.99.

These are actually my favorite towel. The bath towel measures 57 1/2 in.X 30 1/2 in. a wee bit larger than RL towel. I need to get a few more this year to freshen up my supply.

The Demise of the DUVET?

Are we about to see the demise of the duvet?  How can that be?

I read an interesting and humorous article on Tuesday. After reading it I could not get it out of my mind. You can read the whole article HERE.

I loved the article for its humor, but I also loved that it made me think about how I felt about the possible demise of the duvet.

Basically the article was saying that the big poufy duvet comforters will no longer be what is in vogue for bed dressings. Instead we will be seeing a much sleeker, tight fitting bed dressing.

Down comforters are too poufy, too heavy and too hot!! The author talks about the lumpy unmade look with a bazillion pillows is soon to be a thing of the past.

 We have had this look for quite a few years. It has become a little more refined than the look of the late 80’s where the beds were piled with multiple patterned covers and enough pillows for an army.

I did a little research over at Pottery Barn and this is what I saw………

It looks as if WS Home is still in the camp of the Duvet/Down Comforter. 

Now I really had to think about what I read. I went out in cyber space over to Decorpad to see if I could find some examples of the well-made tight looking bed coverings that were spoken of in the article. Here is what I found……..

Do You Have Junk Drawer Problems?

I know we all have them and we all know what they can turn into at any given moment. I am going to show you how I organized mine.

 I will tell you what has always worked for me and how I would like to upgrade my organization in the future. Read on.......

......I have two drawers in my kitchen that measure 12in. wide by 21 in. deep.

These two drawers are what I refer to as my “JUNK DRAWERS!”

I keep a varied amount of goodies in them, ranging from lip gloss to gorilla glue, pens, sewing needles etc. I am sure you get the picture.
Let me show you what I mean………

Drawer #1 has my writing pens, pencils, calendar, phone book, fast food menus etc. You get the picture don’t you?

Drawer #2 has more crafty related items, glue, chalk, scissors, tape, paint brushes, batteries and the like. Oh yes, and Bubble Gum tape,it is the best. I say it is for the kiddos, but I love it too!!!

So how in the world am I going to get a 3’x5’ pile of goodies back in the 12in. x 21in. drawers?

• categorize like items
• purge
• contain items in appropriate size containers (I used what I had on hand so I could get done.)

drawer dividers:

Drawer dividers are a must for me. I have used what I already had, but if I were to upgrade I would get these from the Container store.
Stackable bamboo drawer dividers:

A less expensive option:

I keep all of my take-out menus in a zip-loc bag.


Below would be my upgrade:

Take out menu holder

Contain all paper clips, rubber bands, tacks, stick-pins:

I don’t like these items on the loose in an open container.  I have used old film containers with lids to store these small  items and it works great for me.

 

Another way to keep the junk drawers from getting junky is to NOT let the other people that live with you ever, ever touch them!!

Of course, I am just kidding on that point!

I hope this helped a little bit to motivate you to get going on your organizing.
