Snow Globe In PARIS

I have to admit it is a bit Kitschy, but I also have to admit I love it!!! I made my own snow globe with a sweet memory from Paris………

See the flashing Eiffel Tower on the left. My sweet hubby wanted one when we were in Paris. He would tease that he was going to proudly display it on our mantel.


I told him, that will never happen in our house, but he could get it and we would put it on our tree this year to commemorate our beautiful trip to Paris.



He wound up not getting one while we were in Paris.

I felt kind of badly that I made him feel like he shouldn’t get it, so I sent away for one from Paris   to give him as a little Christmas surprise!

I decided it would look great under a cloche, then it evolved into a snowy scene like you would see in a snow globe.

I used two pictures, one of a snowy backdrop in front of the Eiffel tower, and one to put on the bottom where someone had written, “Kiss From PARIS!” In the snow.

I added a picture of us kissing in Paris on "Love Lock Bridge," and put two little sparkly twigs for snowy trees behind us.

During the Christmas season I like to keep my entry hall peaceful.

After all it is the birth of Christ, the greatest gift of LOVE mankind has ever received, that we are celebrating.  

We can get so caught up in the decorating and gift buying we often forget about the meaning behind Christmas.

I want all who enter our home to know that  we are celebrating the birth of Jesus Christ. 

Yesterday I brought out Mary, and baby Jesus, and placed them in their usual spot.

I had a large ceramic jug with branches from Thanksgiving that I wanted to use.

By placing all white ornaments, and silver pinecones on the branches I kept the peaceful look.

I kept it simple by adding one large white pillar candle.

I am wishing you all a blessed Christmas where you will feel peace and love in your homes.

How I Put Together My Christmas Centerpiece

When ever I am going to decorate I like to pull together the elements that I think will work.

Sometimes they work together, and sometimes they don’t.

I find it is a good idea to do this so you can vary the textures, shapes and colors. Once you do that you are ready to put it together.

I started with my table topper which is a black and white buffalo check. 

Since my family room is decorated in red and white I knew I would have to have some red in the elements in order for it to marry well with the Family room décor.

My kitchen is in black and white this year so it seemed logical to me to try and use a combination of red, white and black and a touch of green.

I started out by laying out different combinations on the tablecloth……..

Red, green, black and mercury glass.

Red, black and white with mercury glass.

Red, green and white with mercury glass.

The winner is……….

Red, Green, Black and Mercury Glass!!!

I hung the ornaments with black and white bakers twine at all different levels. I used shiny and matte ornaments to vary the textures.

Since the ornaments are hanging from my chandelier I knew I wanted the centerpiece on the table to remain simple so I chose to use Mercury glass trees and tea-light holders in clear red glass…..

Continuing with the simple look I added round black lanterns hung with a red satin ribbon, (Notice no bow, keeping it more tailored in here.)

I am really enjoying the sharp, fresh look of this year's décor. This room looks really pretty at night with nothing but candlelight.

So dear readers this is how I plan, and go about putting together my table arrangements.
