Emma Pillsbury’s Style Reflected In Rooms

This blog is mainly about design since that is what I did professionally for over thirty years, and that is my passion. Being a girl I have interest in other areas such as fashion, make-up and gardening to name a few. I love the way we can get inspiration from all the different aspects of our lives.

Blog hopping is another area in which I have found wonderful inspiration. I have found so many interesting blogs by hopping around from one blog to another.

Once in awhile I will find a blog on a subject other than design that catches my fancy.  I have found such a blog recently........

You have to go and see this blog.(Click Here!) The author has actual pictures of Emma and then she tells you where you can get the pieces she is wearing. If it is not the exact piece it is very close to the look.

She puts a lot of work into this blog and it is full of fun outfits and pieces. So if you love even some of what Emma wears on Glee you will looooove this blog!!!

I remember making a comment on the clothes Emma Pillsbury wears to my hubby while watching an episode of Glee, I said, “ I know she is suppose to be prudish and a bit pent-up but I really love the way she dresses most of the time.”

I know, I know it is not for everyone and to be honest I would probably only wear some of the pieces she wears but you must admit she has some great skirts and sweaters!!! I find the colors, textures and patterns very inspiring not only when it pertains to wardrobe, but also how it could translate to a room.

Here is just a sampling of what you will see. I am also going to put a little decorating twist to it!!!

What I love about fashion and Interior design is how we can get inspiration from outfits by looking at the color combinations, patterns and textures that are used in outfits we like.

If we stop and look around us, there is inspiration everywhere!!!

You Have To See This!!

You all know that I don’t advertise or have sponsors on my blog, right?!
If you see something on my blog that I am promoting it is because I love it and highly recommend it.

Today I am doing that with a new online magazine called, “The House of Fifty.”

The founder of this on-line magazine is Janell Beals! She is an amazing and talented lady that also has the blog, Isabella and Max Rooms.

This new online magazine is full of wonderful advice and articles as well as being chock full of gorgeous images and resources. I found it to be an easy read and full of  inspiration. I had to mention it on my blog so you did not miss out! You have to go and see if for yourself!!

I Am A Prepster!!!

I am a self admitted Prepster!! Yes, you heard right I must admit it, I love a preppy look. It really should not be a surprise since my favorite patterns are checks and stripes .

When I was younger there was no problem carrying off this look. As I have matured it has become a bit more difficult to not look too cutesy.

During my Spring purge I went through my existing Spring wardrobe and made a little list of some pieces I would like to add to my wardrobe to punch it up a little.

The one item I was dying to find was a gingham shirt. I looked and looked on line and found a few but finally decided on the Perfect shirt in navy by  J.Crew . Here it is shown in red……

I can't show you an outfit without a room to go with it!! After all, this is a design blog!!

Shall we look at my navy gingham shirt and some fun ways to wear it?.......

This large bauble necklace makes this outfit and I love how it looks with the navy gingham. I like that the purple does not match the navy. I would wear this look with my white jeans and tie the belt just like this. I would finish it off with cobalt blue patent flats.

This simple shirtwaist dress would be so nice and cool for the summer. I would add a bright yellow belt tied like in the previous image. Cute black sandals and a large bright red bangle would finish it off.

Even though gingham is usually considered a casual look I love the idea of glamming it up with pearls and rhinestones!!

Fun and easy shopping outfit. I might spice it up a little with pearls and rhinestones as pictured in the above image!!

How do you all feel about gingham? Are you a Prepster and do you still yearn for a good gingham check like I do?!
