Table Camouflage

I have been noticing a lot of table skirts being shown in the design world. Remember the table skirts of the 80's?  Homeowners would order  Waverly  co-ordinated fabrics and layer away. Gone are those days and now we are seeing a much more sophisticated way to camouflage our out dated or unwanted tables..........

This next image from, " Under Stella's Umbrella" is so fun and whimsical.............

Now you can find table skirts for rectangle tables that are not only lovely to look at, but they serve a purpose. Just think of all the goodies you could store under these table skirts. They even have a matching chair cover if you want to complete the look. The table skirt is made to fit over the folding rectangle tables we all have purchased for extra tables to use at special gatherings. Just look at the cute chair cover.....,

Let's look at few other possibilities for table skirts......

This next image is one of my all time favorites. I love the large over-sized pleats that are used and the blue and white fabric is gorgeous.......

This table skirt is almost fitted like a drum. Notice how it follows the lines of the drapes so it almost seems part of the window treatment. Very interesting!!

Another large pleated skirt, but this time it has a border on each pleat. I love this treatment it looks sharp!!

If you are in need of a pleated table skirt Ballard designs has a 96in. pleated table skirt for $75. That is extremely reasonable. If you have ever had a custom table skirt made they will run much more than that. They offer several different sizes and  fabrics of your choice. Go HERE if you would like to see what they offer. I am seriously considering one in a velvet for the winter for my living room. You can also order swatches!!

I actually have two table skirts in my home, one in my dining room and one in my living room. Using a table skirt is a good way to cover a table you no longer like for the room, but it is serving a purpose. It is also a way to make a room have a fresh new look.

So what do you all think about a table skirt for your own home? Do you already have a tableskirt in a room or do you think you could use one to freshen up the look of an older table?

Sale ALERT!!

When I take advantage of a good sale I like to pass it along to my readers. I recently ordered two new pillows for my back yard patio chairs. I found a great deal on pillows at Ballard.

You all know how much I love monogrammed anything(I think I am really a Southern Belle at heart)
Ballard has their basic pillows and basic pillow covers on sale at a great price with free monogramming that normally cost $6.00.

Check it out!......

The prices vary according to the size but I got a 12"X20" white twill with a black monogram for $8.99 for the pillow cover. The pillows start at $14.99. They are wonderful quality and at that price I don't think it can get any better!!

Go HERE to there website and check it out!!

New Happenings

This week has been full of new things for me. If you look at the top of my page you will see a new header designed by the talented Elizabeth from The Mustard Ceiling blog. She did an amazing job and was so patient and kind. I highly recommend her wonderful services if you want a new look for your blog. I sent her a bunch of blog headers that I liked certain aspects and told her the colors I love and then she sent me five different choices. It was a tie between two designs,  but the Greek key won!! I hope you all enjoy it as much as I do.

I am the person  they wrote the book, "Computer skills for dummies!!" I would be the dummy in the title.

In the middle of Elizabeth helping with the final draft of the design my lovely computer developed a lovely, mean virus that we could not get rid of. We had to call in the geek squad and now my computer is out of commission for 10 days or so.

My sweet hubby did purchase the new lap top that I am using to do this post.
I only hope this post will actually post.

You all might have noticed my lack of post this week due to my computer's ailment. Please bare with me while I figure all of these new things out.

I am the girl that two years ago did not even know how to turn on a computer so most of what you see on my blog has been done with a lot of trial and error on my part. Hopefully I will be up and running at my normal pace very soon.

Thank you for your faithful reading of my blog and I promise I have more to write about, it just might be a bit slower getting done.

My Perspective On AGING!!

Aging is something that we all do from the moment we are born.

I am a firm believer that there is a big difference between aging and getting old.

Aging is a natural process that takes place through out our lives. Getting old, on the other hand, is a frame of mind. It takes place in our minds.

I for one don’t mind aging but I refuse to become old in my thinking.

Unfortunately, in our society we worship youth and all it has to offer. We seem to look through the older generation almost as if they no longer matter or have anything to offer.

It is almost as if the older generation fades into the background until they are no longer noticed or in some cases, actually no longer here.

I find this terribly sad. Partly because I am a part of the older generation, but mostly because I have learned so much from the older and wiser people in my life. They have so many stories to tell and so much wisdom that they can give us.

We just need to stop and realize that we are all aging and someday we will all be a part of the older generation. After all, a forty year old is considered older to a twenty year old. A teen ager is looked up to as so much older to a five year old. See how it works? We are surrounded by older and wiser people no matter what generation we are in.

Next time you see an older person, don’t look through them as if they don’t matter, or as if they are invisible. Look in their eyes, greet  them and listen to what they have to say. Maybe just maybe you will hear something that will help you out as you age like the rest of us.

A Great Idea for YOU DIY’ers Straight From NYC!!!

Tina from The Enchanted Home blog did a whirlwind visit to the New York Gift show this week. While visiting her blog, and living vicariously through her trip I was taken with one of the displays by a new vendor.

It is not something that will work in my home, but I thought it was so fun and clever I wanted to share it with my readers also.

As many of you know I am not a very good DIYer, but so many of you are and I just know one of you will take this idea and run with it………

Isn’t this a fun idea?! This giant shadow box is approximately 4'X5'!! It would fill in an entire wall in a kitchen dinette……

For those of you that love the all white/rustic look this one is made just for you………….

This would be so fun in a wine tasting room or a wine country home……….

One more for you viewing pleasure………….

I would like to thank the very generous blogger, Tina for allowing me to use these images from her post!!

I just love blog land!! It is so full of like-minded, generous people!!

Friday’s Question of The Day!!

I absolutely love monograms and in my own home I have my all white towels monogrammed in cream for our master bedroom. In our black and white guest bathroom we have white towels with a black monogram.

This weeks question is about monogrammed towels and how to hang them. My reader asked this question……..

When you monogram towels, do you just monogram the hand towel, if you are using them for decoration in your powder room?  Two bath towels on a towel rack with a hand towel on each one.  Which one do you monogram?

Great question!! One  that we might think is obvious for some and yet it did make me stop and think!!  What if you don’t want both towels monogrammed which one would you spend money on to have monogrammed?

So Dear reader’s, “What Say Ye?!”

BTW: Here is an image of my own guest bathroom with monogrammed towels. I have a bath towel and a hand towel. I also have a towel laying on the side of the sink for use.......

Simple and Easy Ideas!!!

Once in awhile I run across something that I think is really a good idea. I thought I would show you a few ideas that were new to me. I like to find things that I can implement in my own home.

I figured if I could use some of these ideas then you might like them also………

I love this idea. A bag clip and coffee scoop all in one, genius!!

Next time I have a bathroom vanity built I am going to have this installed!!

Here is another quick and easy storage solution for under the sink.

Another easy to install item to help with bathroom storage!

Since I am on the subject of cabinet doors take a look at this genius camouflage of 1970’s cabinet doors. Next time my kitchen needs repainting I am going to have hubby do this before the painting!

If you need more bathroom storage try this easy to do project. We all have room between the 4in. studs in the wall!

I don’t know about you all, but I hate cords showing. Sometimes the simplest ideas are so obvious once we see them. This idea was one of those ideas where I said, “Now why didn’t I think of that?!”

Speaking of cords made me think about lights.  Check out these fun hanging lights.  Wouldn’t these be fun in a boys room or a den?

How about these fun lights for outside?…..

Thinking about outside made me think I need to get off of the computer and go and do some watering before it gets too hot!!

Sometimes We Just Need To Simplify

I am just like the rest of the bloggers in blog land. I go all over the web looking for inspirational images. In the last few days something came to my attention.

I began to notice that it was the simple designs, the uncomplicated designs that were so appealing.
I think that sometimes we complicate our design minds with too many details and it becomes a room of, “Stuff,” rather than a beautifully appointed room.

The word, “Edit” comes to my mind. Sometimes that can be so difficult to do. Especially if you are a more is more gal. I personally live in pretty edited spaces, but I do think my mind can get cluttered with the details.

I found when I was perusing the web and finding these beautiful, simple spaces and vignette it gave me a sense of peace.  I know we all want some of that in our lives, don’t we?
Let me show you some of the spaces that gave me the sense of peace and see what you think and feel when you look at them…….

So do you feel relaxed and more at peace, after looking at all of these
images? I must admit I thoroughly enjoyed looking at all of them again.

In the future I am going to be more mindful of just how many items
I put into a space and vignettes. I am really liking the feeling I get
from all the above images.
