Easy Ways To Decorate Your House For The Summer

When the seasons change it is nice to make changes to our homes too.

We don’t have to go out and buy new furniture, or even do major changes to make our homes look more summery.

There are some quick and easy changes we can all make to our homes without too much effort.

Before we begin to add anything new to our homes we can do a few things to give our rooms a nice surface to work with.

The Removal Process

De-clutter

  • Remove any dark lampshades and change them to white.

  • If you have shades on your chandeliers, remove the shades.

  • Lighten your window coverings with soft cotton sheers or better yet, just an open window with maybe a matchstick blind for privacy.

  • If you have wood floors, try a bare floor look by removing your area rugs.
Now for the fun part……..

 THE ADDITIONS

The Additions
USE FRESH GREENS OR PRODUCE

A collection of random bottles, clear, blue and green with clippings from you yard. How simple and inexpensive is that?

ADD A FRESH TABLECLOTH

By using a table cloth with blue, and whites you will add a fresh, crisp look to any room.

A plain white table cloth always will look fresh. If you add some blue colored glasses to the mix you will have a summery look, and feel.

Any color of  stripes will always be a reminder of the Summer months, especially blue and white!

ADD SHELLS OR BEACH THEMED ELEMENTS

 A Word Of Caution
When adding any element with a theme use it sparingly, and strategically. Other wise your home will become too thematic or kitschy.

ADD MORE WHITE

By doing any of the above ideas your home can have a fresh, crisp look for Summer!

I am wish you all a wonderful Memorial Day!

Remember what this day stands for and why we observe it.........

Great inspiration here, KathySue! I am getting ready to take up the rug in our family room and trying to decide whether to put a seagrass one down for the summer months or leave it bare. Also, I am taking down the dining room drapes for a fresh, summer look- Happy Memorial Day to you- xo Diana
