Color of the Year!? Not For Me!!

This is not another post about this years “Color of 2011!”

1 (500x250)

“In times of stress, we need something to lift our spirits. Honeysuckle is a captivating, stimulating color that gets the adrenaline going – perfect to ward off the blues,” explains Leatrice Eiseman, executive director of the Pantone Color Institute®. “Honeysuckle derives its positive qualities from a powerful bond to its mother color red, the most physical, viscerally alive hue in the spectrum.”

Did you read the part about, “perfect to ward off the blues?”

I for one do not want to ward off the blues.

In fact the color of the year for me, personally, is going to be BLUE!!

I have decided to add more blue and white to my home this year.

1 (183x275)

I have been a big fan of blue and white porcelain and when I did a post on Carolyn Roehme, I knew then that I had to have more of it  in my life.
Just look at how beautifully blue is displayed by Carolyne Roehme

I already have several blue and white pieces in my home…….

I have several other pieces, but I think you get the point. Blue and white are not a new love, but an old friend that I plan on keeping in my life.

So the next question is how do I plan on adding more blue and white in my home for 2011?

This is what I would like to do, I am not sure it will happen this year, but I am  a planner and a dreamer so what the heck!!

Before I purchased the sofa that I have now, which actually has the color honeysuckle on a natural linen base in a floral design. I had a blue and white striped sofa.

I had the blue and white sofa for ten years. I had it for so long I thought I would go in a completely different direction (Bad choice on my part.)

I have had this floral sofa for six years and I have tired of its pattern. I now want the blue and white striped fabric back in my home.

A new sofa in this fabric! This is actually the same fabric that I had on my other sofa so it is not really new to me, just a good old friend coming back for a visit!!

It is not that I dislike honeysuckle. I have had it in my home for the last six years or so and I want to go back to my love of blue and white.

I will be adding some honeysuckle with the blue and white. I think bright pink looks amazing mixed with blue and white.

Below is a wonderful example of how beautiful honeysuckle can look with blue and white porcelain.

For those of you that adore Honeysuckle I thought you might enjoy a few more pictures of the 2011 color of the year with blue and white ( My own personal choice for MY color of 2011.)

To be honest I really love small doses of honeysuckle (bright pink) when it is mixed in a blue and white room to warm the room up.

Sue, now you know. I love the combination of the blue and white mixed with black and white and a dash of pink!

So, there you have it! With the addition of more blue and white I will be keeping a sprinkling of Honeysuckle pink in small doses.

How about you all? Will you all be adding the color Honeysuckle to your decor? You know I already have a touch of it, but I am going to concentrate on more blue and white in my world for 2011!

What color would you name as your own personal color choice for 2011?!

I am really into blue as well: specifically navy. But I love the way honeysuckle looks against the blue. Thanks for sharing what's on your mind!

Ha...I have been curious to see how this color shows up in interiors this year, you've shown it best, in flowers and as an accent. It can bring a lot of beautiful energy into a space! Love your blues...

I was explaining
honeysuckle/Pantone/
color of the year to
my mom over X-mas and
she said, "Why do they
get to choose?" and
I thought, AMEN!!!
WE get to choose our
own color of the year: )
As for me, I'm jumping
on your blue bandwagon.
It's been slowly making
a comeback at Chez P&H
over the last year. I'll
look forward to your
suggestions of how to
incorporate it into the mix!

Kathysue~ The blue will be beautiful in your home! ! ! I can not wait to see what you do with it!
I will take the Honeysuckle for the little house! hahha
LOVE the color - but - I think the nane is odd. Honeysuckle is yellow in my mind.
Have a pretty blue day!

My choice for color of the year at my house will be blue and white. Suzanne is right, WE get to choose our own color of the year! The name Honeysuckle brings to mind a yellow not a pink. Oh well, blue and white is also my choice and a pop of pink here and there. Love it! I also love the images you have shown us. What wonderful inspiration you have brought our way this morning. Thank you, Kathysue.
Oh, and congratulations to Sally. It was a wonderful giveaway.

There are really beautiful pictures in this post! The bright pink accents make for a very pleasing balance. Really perky! I've been "purging" steadily over a couple of years. Astonishing what accumulates without your notice!

Hi Kathysue,
You know I'm not a blue person, but I have to tell you that after seeing some of your images, I could get used to it. I do like the stripes and always have. Also like dark blue walls. Carolyn Roehm's table with the stripe tablecloth and flowers is absolutely gorgeous. I look forward to seeing how you incorporate more blue into your home in 2011.

Ha! I posted yesterday to tell you it was my first time posting and today I have something to say again!

I, too, have been doing blue & white this January. As soon as I took down Christmas, I wanted something fresh and I decided on blue & white. Honeysuckle's just not for me, but blue & white I can get behind.

I love your blue choices - I am reading Carolyn Roehm's book too - I am a great fan of her! Not sure I can fit in that pink - in some places perhaps -

I personally love blue and white and think honeysuckle pink goes beautifully with your color scheme! And I thought you were an orange person, Kathysue...

Kathy I think blue is a great color. Especial Cobalt blue. Each year my color[s] remain the same. Black and white. Maybe when I grow up I will embrace other colors in my space. lol

Kathysue: Uh oh...I just did a post on my pink accented guest room (but it was done before the color was chosen). Influenced by my years in Florida.
I always have some blue in my home (currently in the master bedroom). I have given you the Stylish Blogger Award as you are just so STYLISH. Great post.

It will be interesting to see where this honeysuckle pink goes. I also wrote about it and cobalt blue is my "color of the month" on our blog so check it out. I will look forward to your addition of blue and white throughout the year.

Blue and white is such a classic and pure combination you just can't miss using it - one of my favorites too and I love the ticking stripe!

Love the blue and white. Like you, the honeysuckle accent in my home this year will be in the garden and in accent flowers I bring in. It just doesn't go with my decor and it's nothing i would want to change to.

I might be adding some Honeysuckle in the dining room, but just in small doses - possibly a picture frame, and I already have a pink orchid. Probably not anywhere else in the house, because it really won't work in any other rooms.

Love the combo of blue & white - it's so fresh & crisp and makes me think of summer & water :-)

Kathysue, I just discovered your blog. I love it! I am a big fan of blue and white. I have those colors in my bedroom. I will just have to add the honeysuckle color now!

I have never been a blue and white fan and feel I never will...I don't think it ever truely goes out because it is a timeless combo. Most people like it. It is so funny that both my daughters fear blue as well. Did I do that to them, or would they have felt that way regradless. I guess we will never know... I do love pink, but I don't think it will ever be a huge trend either. I expect to see more green and blue/purples popping up . I guess we will have to wait and see.

Hi Kathysue, I am a HUGE lover of blue and white. If I had the luxury of a second home, I'd do blue, white, dark woods and slipcovers and change out the splashes of color. I adore blue and white porcelain piled up in a room with white slipcovers. Next life!

I love it Kathysue! I agree the color of the year is whatever you like :) To each his own! I personally think blue is classic and will never go out of style.

I love blue, in all it's forms, and paired with some hot pink would be beautiful! For me, nothing says nautical quite like blue and white, and as you know, I love nautical!

Congratulations to Sally!
