Cobalt Blue

I love the color cobalt blue! I especially love it mixed with white in porcelain pieces. It always looks so classic to me. A blue and white porcelain piece in a room seems to elevate the room somehow. I do have to mention that I bought the most amazing, cute cobalt patent leather flats for Spring. I am sorry I digressed!!  I think cobalt combined with a bright pink is amazing. I have a collection of rooms that have incorporated the color cobalt so I thought I would share some of these lovely images………..

Be still my heart!! Just look at that gorgeous wallpaper. I love the symmetry in this room. Notice the silver metal pedestal tables with the unexpected  lamps . The high gloss white mirror is wonderful placed on the wallpaper. I love this room!

Notice how the cobalt is sprinkled (a technical design term) around the room. I think it makes this room come alive!!

This bathroom is a wonderful design in of itself and then they had the genius to add just one splash of color in cobalt!!

This room done by Johnathon Adler shows just a touch of cobalt. It shines in the room with the beautiful apple green sofa. Blue and green are smashing together.
e3a2dcc69b0d[1]You would have to LOVE cobalt to have a room like this. I find I prefer white with a touch of cobalt. Love the Greek Key pillows and that rug is amazing.
85d51339646c[1] This room is more to my liking I love all the white with the touch of the cobalt in the rug and settee. Notice how they also have a different blue/gray on the wall and the table lamp. It looks to me as if you can mix blues and it still is lovely.

Cobalt is introduced in a big way in this oversized art. Good styling here. Look at the coffee table book, just a hint of the cobalt and black to correspond with the painting and its frame. It is all in the details.

I found this room interesting. Not sure if it is to my taste but still interesting. I love the textures going on here. The old armoire with its chippy paint and then the sleek cobalt mirror. The straight lines of the chairs with what almost looks as if they are wearing a bright fuchsia shawl. Just interesting!

A touch of cobalt with your gray. This is stunning!
I like to add cobalt in the summer to give a cool look for our hot summers. The following are pictures of my touches of cobalt that I use in my home…….

This is on the end of my mantle. Notice that I also add books in cooler colors.

As you can see a touch of cobalt makes an area look cool and fresh. Blue and white porcelain is always a classic and can be purchased at high or low price points. Do you have touches of cobalt in your home? Where do you use it, as a main color or an accent? If not I hope that this inspires you to add a little cobalt to an area in your home.

You always find the most beautiful rooms to inspire me Kathysue. I LOVE the Metropolitan Home living room, and the bedroom directly above it gives me some ideas for our master bedroom. We've been trying to decide what to do with it for years. Love the wall color, now if I could just convince DH to let me paint the bed white :) Hugs, Kat

Kathysue, we must be on the same wavelength as I, too, have been looking at ways to incorporate this blue into my color scheme at home. I have enjoyed my muted reds and sage greens for quite a while now but feel that it doesn't reflect my most favorite color: BLUE. Your post was a reminder that "bringing blue back!" has been on my mental to-do list for a while now. My next foray to Home Goods or an estate sale is going to include scouting around for more of this fabulous color. Thanks for the reminder!!!
Happy Saturday! xx P&H

Gorgeous! I love cobalt (I "blame" my mom, who loves and collects cobalt blue glass) - it's an accent color in both my living and dining rooms

I just painted a set of lamps cobalt blue and I'm loving the volt of color they provide.

I love cobalt...especially strategically sprinkled around a space :)

I'm really beginning to regret pitching some austrian blue crystal stemware. I just grew tired of them. Probably a mistake...

Kathy, I'm catching up on your posts this week and just saw the pictures of your finished porch. I LOVE how it turned out! The curtain is just the right touch and the black cushions will make it perfect. I may have to sneak over in my PJ's one morning this summer to enjoy it with you! Have a great Mother's Day! Love you, Vicki

I painted my son's room cobalt blue and have my mother-in-law's antique rug in there. Otherwise, no blue here. But I love it in other homes and especially when paired with crisp white. I wouldn't mind incorporating more blue in my home. Your home looks great with your touches, especially the mantle scape. Have a wonderful Mother's Day my friend!

I'm really being drawn to blues lately. I love them with pink as you said. It's such a stunning combination. Thanks for the video link. It was great, and yes some tears were shed... but it's all good!
Happy Mothers Day to one of the best!!!!!!!

Kathysue...this is just lovely! I love the blue and white porcelain...it adds the perfect spring touch to your mantel! I don't use alot of blue in my house but I have been trying to work in a little of the porcelain...I am a Wisteria junkie and I have fallen in love with several of their pieces!

I am inspired every time I visit here!

Happy Mother's Day sweet lady...I hope your day is filled with love and laughter!

Love the cobalt, and yes, it pretty much HAS to go with white! I've always loved it, we have some blue and white ceramics scattered around the house and they add such a nice, classic touch!

I love the touches of cobalt blue thru out your house. I have a few touches of blue and white here and there. I think it adds a bit of contrast to the other colors I have.

Hey Girlfriend!
I have two cobalt patterned vases that my mother gave me that will always be special to me, and they will make their way into my design whatever color I'm working with. It's a classic. The new Ralph Lauren collection has a fabric that was inspired by the Flow Blue pottery, and there was cobalt and white throughout the new collection. It's here to stay!
Have a great Mother's day...oh, and your vignettes in your home are just beautiful...but then, I'm not suprised!
