TARGET TUESDAY = TEXTURE

TODAY’S TARGET TUESDAY IS GOING TO FEATURE:

TEXTURE

When the cooler Fall weather arrives it is time to cozy up our homes. One way that always adds warmth to a room is to add some texture in your accessories. Today that is the criteria I used for my online shopping at Target.

TARGET TUES
This is a wonderful addition for an end table, book case or your coffee table.

This mirror with it’s leather strap will add a touch of texture to any wall grouping.

target tues 5
This is for salt, but I can see it used in other areas of the home as well.

It could hold trinkets on your dresser, or even some sweet treats sitting by a chair.

Wherever you use it, it will add warmth and texture to a room.

Baskets are one the main elements I use to bring in texture to my home. I fell in love with this one because of its shape and the leather handles.

target tues 3
Speaking of leather handles, this candle holder is so handsome. The seeded glass gives it a nice texture and will make the light look like it is sprinkling in the room.

target tues 4
This wood plaque with mason jars could be used in so many areas, kitchens, bathrooms, bedrooms. What a fun way to display useful items.

This last item is a candle holder and what drew me to this was the textured pattern on the outside and the shiny gold inside, this would be stunning in a room at night with a warm glow.

Are you ready to go shopping at TARGET!!

NEW HOUSE UPDATE: Two Weeks And Counting!!

We are down to the wire now , and the progress we have seen in the last week is remarkable.

In my last update I showed you the house painted, that was such a thrill for me to see. Of all the things that have been done, for some reason seeing the paint on the house made it feel like ours.

Lots of fun discoveries going through this process!

We went yesterday to see her, and now she has some amazing changes that have given her even more personality.
OUR NEW DOOR

P1150710

When purchasing a new home that is in a development you don’t always get to choose your door unless you want to upgrade it.

The builder offers certain standard doors according to the elevation you have chosen. Well as luck would have it I got the door I was hoping for, just another little gift that came our way.

I love light as you all know so I wanted some windows in my door and I got it!!

The other wonderful thing is it is black which in my world is a perfect choice for the gray/blue/green"= Blaygreen color of our home.

It keeps getting better and better!

We also now have shutters, which is something else I wanted, AND we  have landscaping too.

I think  already  told you because of the drought in California we don’t get a front lawn from the builder, but they do give us drought tolerant plantings, and I think they did a pretty good job for this type of landscaping. I am a green lawn loving gal, so this is a bit of an adjustment for me.

Another gift came our way with the landscaping, which we had no say about, but my fingers and toes were crossed that it would be in the purple, periwinkle, white category and not the orange and yellow category. (yes, that is what is offered on some elevations.)

We got it! Some periwinkle and soft purple in rosemary. Happy Dance!!

Yesterday was the QA walk thru, that is where they come thru and mark anything that needs to be addressed with painters tape. If you look closely you can see some on the trim on the garage door.

P1150711 (777x800)

The painters were working over time last night when we came to visit. They have a lot of houses to finish in the next two weeks. It was fun talking with him.

In this picture you can see some tape on the shutters as well, they are pretty dusty so they will look darker once cleaned and touched up.

I also contacted the superintendent about talking to the landscaper to get another spiral juniper on the right side of the window.

In the future I would also like a window box. Don’t you think she needs a window box to add to her charm!?

P1150712 (800x435)

The touch ups and fix-ups are in progress! They still have to add the hardware on our garage door to make it look like a carriage door, so she will be getting her jewelry soon.

The gate will be going up on the fence, and the other side of our fence will be built.

We have a new house going up right next door, so that will be fun to watch it’s progress once we are moved in.

We get the keys to our new home on the 13th if everything stays on schedule. To say we are excited is truly an understatement.

We get to do our walk thru in one week!! I can’t wait to post some pictures of the inside!!

TARGET TUESDAY

Great Looking Pieces
 At Great Prices!

Target must have the best marketing team around.

They never cease to amaze me with their product lines and advertising.

As you already know their price points make it possible to purchase some really nice looking pieces at affordable prices.

I thought it would be fun to periodically show you all some of the pieces that I think are great looking at great prices.

Threshold™ Brass Task Lamp (includes CFL Bulb):

We all know that brass is huge in the design world and I thought this desk lamp has  great style and could fit in most homes easily and for  $56.99 you can’t beat the price!

Decorative Accent Piece Figurine - Gold : Target:

If you are looking for a fun decorative piece to add to a coffee table or on a bookcase shelf, this metal orb will look great at $15.99

Threshold Shower Curtain Gold Ikat:

For under $20 you can get this shower curtain. I am in love with this pattern and I think this would make a great looking tablecloth, just cut the grommet end off and hem it up. Never forget to look at shower curtains, sheets, and tablecloth for your needs in the fabric department.

This ottoman is perfect to cover with the Ikea sheepskin rug, unscrew top and staple the faux fur over the top and you have a custom ottoman for under $90. I just might do this myself, loving this!Nate Berkus™ Plaid Upholstered Ottoman:

I am in love with this little ottoman. I have recommended this to a friend for her home and told her to get a faux fur throw or the Ikea sheepskin rug and just staple gun it on top of the existing fabric to give some texture and a bit of gold in the room. For under $70 you can’t go wrong. I saw one that was so similar to this one for over $1,200. You do the math!!!
I was thinking something similar to this would be fun for the brown leather chair. This is too expensive, but I think with a faux fur throw and an ottoman or small table topped with foam this would be a totally easy DIY:

Do you need a nice looking end table?

If you need a nice accent table this would bring in some of your gold and a table like this can be used anywhere. Round Gold Accent Table with Marble Top:

Everyone can always use a small end table. This classic shape can go just about anywhere and for under $90 you will have a table that looks much more expensive with it’s gold legs and marble top.

With the holidays coming up just around the corner it might be a bit early for some, but if you want to get some fun things before the rush begins, now is the time to start planning.

Threshold™™ Metallic Wish Flour Sack Towel:

This is actually a flour sack tea towel, but I would totally use this as my Thanksgiving dinner napkins. At $3.99 they are more than affordable and could be the jumping off point for your Holiday table.
Threshold™ Copper Piecing Placemat:
How about a sharp looking placemat for under $5.00 each!?

If you really want to get into the spirit of the day you could go for these instead….
Threshold™ Thankful Placemat:

Threshold™ Starburst Reclaimed Mirror - Grey 28":

I fell in love with this mirror especially for the price below $50.

Threshold™ Greek Key Throw:
Can you beat this price for under $18 for a Greek key motif throw? I think not!!

UNLESS
YOU PREFER A LATTICE PATTERN
Threshold™ Lattice Throw:

I use to love to peruse the aisles of Target when my boys were in school. I don’t do that very much anymore but I sure do check them out online from time to time and I always find some stylish bargain. I hope this inspires you to do a little looking too!!
