The Shopping God’s Were With Me!!!

I actually had another post scheduled to post for today. The post was titled, “I need HELP!”

My request for help was to help me find an object for my home. It is an object that many of you might question, but trust me on this, when you see where it is going you will understand why I wanted this little guy.

I was on the look for the last three days for one of these:

 

After googling and investigating different leads I found out that they had these at Pier I about 6 months ago, but they were no longer listed on-line.

I figured if I were to find one it would be pure luck by going in and finding the last one on display at a Pier I.

Yesterday the shopping god's were with me!!!

 I was having a fun day with my friend and we, of course went into Pier I to check it out. At first there was no elephant to be found. I did a last little look  around the store and there he was!!!

We asked if they were having a sale soon because he was marked $99.00.

That was more than I wanted to pay, but was willing to pay that after my friend reminded me of how perfect it was and it was exactly what I wanted and had been looking for.

My wonderful friend told the clerk that they no longer had them on line. Sooooooo, the clerk did a price check and he was $39.99, “Sold!” Happy Dance ensues!!!

My friend said that the elephant seemed to make me so happy that she thought maybe she should get one just to have that happy feeling, even though she did not desire one at all. We laughed about that!!

I  am now the proud owner of  a wicker elephant table!!! Yay!! Don’t you just love when that happens.

Which Fabric Would You Choose?? !!!

 

 

These are the existing fabrics I am going to use in the playroom.

All the  fabrics are for pillows except for the large polka dot and that will be in the form of a curtain. The solid green is the wall color, Martha Stewart’s lemon grass. The navy striped fabric is for when the boys are here and the bright pink floral is for when I have a little girl visiting here.

 

Below are the samples I have chosen to consider for a large cushion. One of the fabrics below will be right next to the large navy polka dot.

Depending on which fabric I choose it will have a cord welting trim in either the white or one of the greens. 


I will also add a touch of this fabric in the form of a pillow so the color and print will be elsewhere in the room.

Is Kathysue going to go "Rustic?!"

I have never considered my self a rustic girl or even a girl that needs a lot of texture in rooms. I do, however, like a few rustic pieces and would love to incorporate them in my home.

I have three items that I have always been drawn too that I never have purchased for my home, but they are always in my radar.

First, are Confit pots in pretty gold or green. I have always loved these. I also have admired the French Anduze pottery.

I think my mantel could accomodate a pair of any of these lovely pots, don’t you? I really love the pretty yellow/ochre pots. I think they could be a wonderful addition of texture to a room.

I have mentioned this next element as something I would like to add to my home in 2011. I am bound and determined to find just the right one.

I love the idea of a large basket for a coffee table. Not a new idea, but still a good use for a large basket. It is also wonderful for storage, which is a whole other issue in my home.

 

My next item is a dough bowl. I have always been drawn to the patina of these old wooden bowls. My grandmother and great-grandmother use to make their own bread and I can just visualize them making dough in a bowl similar to these bowls.

 

There are so many of you that love the rustic look that is so popular right now. You love burlap and the roughed up paint finishes, so it would not be a surprise to see these pieces in your homes.

In my home, however, I think it might be a bit of the unexpected and I like that!!

I don’t think most people that really know me would associate the word "rustic'  with  me.

 I usually love an understated elegant look. I think the addition of these pieces would give me some nice texture, and more of a casual feel in my home, don’t you?

Do you have elements that you are attracted too that would not necessarily be found in your style of decor? What are they? Do you see yourself ever incorporating something that is, "outside the box?"
