(The Before)
The new bed arrived yesterday and it gets to stay!! It looks just like I envisioned. I am so pleased with it.
The new mattress was amazingly comfortable. We did not even have to adjust to the feel of it. I love having the extra sleeping space, and so does my hubby.
(The During)
I knew that I would have to do a bit of tweaking to my room once the bed was placed.
It has a darker framework than my previous headboard, which was cream. The room is no longer all cream, white and blue.
CHANGES TO BE MADE
With the touch of mushroom colored wood I might need to add a basket that will carry the color of the wood to the other side of the room.
Possibly on top of the armoire. Although I hate to replace the pretty sea-glass bottles. We shall see?!!
Since the bed is an upholstered frame, and is larger in scale, the bedside lamps need to be a larger silhouette.
The mirrors above the nightstands also need to be taller.
I am not sure I will still have the mirrors above the nightstands, but I do love the open look it gives the room. This option is still being debated in my mind.
As far as the bedding I am quite pleased with an all white look.
I will still be tweaking the pillow situation. After much thought, and looking I have decided on two large pillows in the back, two standards in front, and an extra long lumbar in front with possibly a monogram.
I love the new look and I have already pinned some inspirational images that will help me decide the direction I would like to go.
Come back for my next post, and I will share the images that are inspiring me.
For now I will just enjoy my new bed, and dream of the changes to come……
Oh Kathysue, it is gorgeous. I love it. I can't wait to see what you do as the final touch. Hugs, Marty
ReplyDeleteLove your new bed, Kathysue! One thing leads to another, right? :-) I think a basket would be wonderful. But I really like the bottles and shells though....perhaps re-use the bottles elsewhere in the room? Thanks for sharing!

Looks good, love the darker wood tone in your room too!
ReplyDeleteIsn't that the way it goes, you change one thing in a room and suddenly there are a few adjustments needed to compensate? Happens to me all the time. :-) Worth the effort though when you get something new that you love!
Happy weekend, Kathysue!
So pretty! I agree about the lamps, i've been telling my husband the same thing about our lamps for a year:)

ReplyDeleteWhat a gorgeous bed. I'm looking forward to seeing how you change the bedroom to accommodate the new bed.
ReplyDeleteIt is gorgeous, and I am so glad, especially after the extremely long and overdue wait. I love the all white bedding, its exactly what I want to do. I can't wait to see it all come together. xxoo
ReplyDeleteI LOVE the new bed!!! And isn't king the best! It really makes the room look so much larger? How can that be.
ReplyDeleteI am so glad the bed came and is what you were dreaming it would be.
ReplyDeleteNow, I can't wait to see the WHOLE picture!
If one small, teeny things moves...the world turns upside down!!! I know this as a FACT!!!
Sleep well,
Loving what I see so far....but realize its a work in progress. The bed is beautiful, I also like the lamps a lot too...I know we share a love of soft, serene bedrooms...so cannot wait to see the finished product!! You are off to a great start.
ReplyDeleteHi Kathysue
ReplyDeleteI love your bed. Why when making just one small change such as a new bed leads to all sorts of other changes. I have no doubt you will create a spectacualar space.
Do you also find it is more difficult to decorate for oneself. It seems much easier and projects flow when we do it for others.
Have a great weekend

I LOVE your new bed. It was SOOO worth the wait, Kathysue! I love the top of your cabinet as is..and hope you can introduce some "mushroom" some other place. It will be fun to see what you end up with- xo Diana
ReplyDeleteps..it is the sign of a good mattress when it is comfortable from the get go-xo Diana
How exciting...you have waited quite a while, but it was definately worth it ~ it is lovely.
ReplyDeleteYay, finally!
ReplyDeleteIt looks so roomy and comfortable.
Love the wood color on the bed.
I see a pair of beautiful brown ikat or pineapple medallion patterned curtain panels hanging on the sides of the window.
Something lightweight but lovely to set off that side of the room.
I can see your wheels spinning, I know how much you enjoy a project!!!
Happy weekend my friend!!!!
Sleep tight
XO

I am so so happy for you! I know I told you before I always have to wait forever from Ethan Allen but at least it's always worth the wait in the end. What a gorgeous gorgeous bed!

Congratulations, Kathysue. The bed is just beautiful. I like the idea of a dark tone basket on top of the armoire and am anxious to see what else you do.

ReplyDeleteLove the new bed! Can't wait to see what you do with the room. xo Vicki
ReplyDeleteIsn't it always the case -- make one adjustment and that tips off another ring of vibration and change. Drives my husband crazy! Adding pattern for window treatments, lamps, nightstands . . . .I love the process of renewal.
ReplyDeleteYour room kind of made me thought of marshmallows. O_O I suddenly want to eat one. Haha! Anyway, your bed is huge and plump. Ooh, I can feel its softness. With a bed as fluffy as this, you’ll surely have the most comfortable nights everyone has always dreamed of.
