I absolutely love monograms and in my own home I have my all white towels monogrammed in cream for our master bedroom. In our black and white guest bathroom we have white towels with a black monogram.
This weeks question is about monogrammed towels and how to hang them. My reader asked this question……..
When you monogram towels, do you just monogram the hand towel, if you are using them for decoration in your powder room? Two bath towels on a towel rack with a hand towel on each one. Which one do you monogram?
Great question!! One that we might think is obvious for some and yet it did make me stop and think!! What if you don’t want both towels monogrammed which one would you spend money on to have monogrammed?
My initial reaction was who puts bath towels in a powder room? No one that I know. Powder rooms generally have hand towels and mabye finger tip towels and thats it. In that case I would monogram them all.
ReplyDeleteIf she meant a guest room...personally I would monogram them all, but if its something that is not going used and the hand towel will be on top of it for display then I suppose you could just monogram the top (hand) towel. Personally though I would bite the bullet and monogram them all.
I would monogram all the towels. Keep it consistent. Otherwise it looks like you cheaped out...I'm Just sayin!
ReplyDeleteI have not monogrammed any towels but if I were to consider doing it, I'd monogram just the hand-towel and place it on top of the bath towel. I've never asked a guest, but I wonder if they'd really care? What is the point of it anyway--using your own personal brand on towels? I do have the first letter of our last name on the welcoming mat outside our front door--seemed like a short-hand statementfor: you are entering the home of . . . . Do monogrammed towels in the guest bathroom or powder room function similarly? as welcoming guestures?
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to hear the consensus
ReplyDeleteis on this. My powder room is my guest bathroom as well, it has a shower.
I would monogram "all" of them. Who's to say that set of towels will remain in that bathroom forever. A person may change the color scheme and flip the towels, depending up tile and such.. I'll ba anxious to hear how this one plays out.. hugs ~lynne~
ReplyDeleteMonogram them all! And that way, when one or the other is used, the room still looks pretty and elegant and welcoming. (I have a hook on the back of our door for a wet towel to hang.)
ReplyDeleteFor myself, I don't have my towels monogrammed so this is not a problem for me but if I did I would do all of them.
ReplyDeleteHave a good weekend, Kathysue
I'm with Tina - no bath towels in powder room. But in a master or guest bath I would definitely monogram them all - I think it would actually be odd NOT to!
ReplyDeleteThe powder room must function as a guest bath as well or no need for bath towels but I would monogram them all. Have a great weekend Kathysue. Mona
ReplyDeleteI think that monograms are about as classy as you can get. I love them!! In a guest bath or powder bath, I would either just do the last initial - or full monogram - and only on a hand towel. Most guest baths just have a vanity and a potty. But, if there is a shower in the guest bath that would be the only reason to have a bath towel in there.........and of course with a monogram. I have sets of towels where even the wash cloth is monogrammed and seriously it was a mistake because the monogram turns out teeny tiny!!
ReplyDeleteI agree with the majority!!! Monogram all of them, and try to stay neutral...black,white or cream, that way if you redecorate you are not stuck with pink!!!
ReplyDeleteI would monogram all the towels but if only the hand towel was monogrammed that would fine too. Hope you have a wonderful weekend, Kathysue! xo
ReplyDeleteIf $$$ is no object and you like monograms than why not monogram them all. I have a monogram on my glass shower door and I love it...but so far non on my towels although that would be nice.(-:
ReplyDeleteSince I LOVE monograms, I'd have all the towels monogrammed... and the sheets, and the pillow cases. :)
ReplyDeleteReally good question, and I actually find people's answers so far very helpful! If it wasn't a matter of money I would definitely say that I love the look of all the towels monogrammed. Lovely!
ReplyDeleteI hope you have a fantastic weekend dear Kathysue!!

I had no idea what the "correct" answer to this question was, but after seeing the photos and reading the responses, it seems like "all of them." Makes sense to me! Funny, I saw 4 posts on monograms this week, including my own!

WELL.... when you're from the SOUTH you monogram EVERYTHING. Towels, handtowels, dish towels, pillows, pillowcases, dresses, silver, bolsters, bows, ribbons, napkins, stickers, bags, papers, stationery, wallets, leathers, handbags, etc... i could go on and on, but then I might throw up at myself, hearing how preppy it all sounds!
ReplyDeleteWhat I am really digging is the Art Deco 1920's 2 letter monograms. I have that on our king shams, and I did that for a client on her dish towels. :)
