2012 Wardrobe Colors



In my post about my own personal color pick for 2012 I chose the color, emerald/Kelly green to add to my home.

I mentioned in that post that I had a few colors that I have been looking for that I would like to incorporate into my wardrobe for 2012.

Before I show you these four colors I have to profess my love for Preppy classics. I did this in a post last year called:

Stripes and checks are not new too me, but patterns I have had a love affair with for years.

So keep that in mind when you see the repeat of these patterns in my fashion choices.

I actually got an email from Nordstrom's today that had a whole section on what they called, "Prep Perfection!!"

I decided I am going to call it, “Classic Prep,” so I will use this term from now on, it sounds more grown up than Preppy, don’t you think?

The four colors are:
Cobalt blue

Kelly/Emerald Green

Bright Marigold

MAGENTA/BRIGHT VIOLET:








In the above images you can see   the colors I love.

The reason I did not mention red as a new color, is I already have it in my wardrobe.

The Kelly green, marigold,  and magenta will be new additions to my wardrobe.

I think the pops of color will be great with the black and white base I already have going on in my existing wardrobe.

I have to take a moment to mention that I will NOT be looking for skinny jeans.

My belief is, if you turn side-ways, and your leg looks like a chicken drumstick, skinny jeans are not for YOU!!

There is also something to be said for age, and figure appropriateness!

Today I am going to talk about Cobalt blue, and show some of the wardrobe pieces, and outfits that have caught my eye.
I will do more post on the others colors in the very near future.

Cobalt blue is the color I chose to add more of  in my home in 2011.

I am still working on that, and have made some progress.
I am now on the look for my wardrobe.

For Winter:
COAT












Love this look, but unfortunately this lady can no longer wear that high of a heel, maybe a cute wedge boot instead?!


SWEATER






I already have the scarf so I could put this outfit together easily!


You can not go wrong with a black and white striped blouse with the cobalt. I already have the blouse so all I need is the sweater. However you will not be seeing me in shorts, but long pants will suit me just fine!



Love the black with the cobalt and this sweater would be a wonderful winter staple in my wardrobe. I think I really would enjoy wearing this.




Notice the black stripe down each sleeve, it adds just the right touch to make it seem more special than a plain top.



This falls on the navy side of cobalt, but the overall look is what I am after. Cute polka-dot blouse under a striped sweater, Love!!!



I love the pop of magenta/bright violet in the belt. I would not do a magenta or bright violet skirt as pictured, I will let my younger readers go for that look.


SUEDE SHOES




I have to leave you with at least a couple of images of interiors, after all this is a design blog. How about a little black and blue ………..

























I had so much fun doing some virtual shopping. I think I found a few things I might actually purchase. I will let you know what I finally get to add too my 2012 winter wardrobe!

Anticipation


With the beginning of a New Year I usually just look at it as just another day and the passing of time.

However, this year I have a wonderful feeling of:

“Anticipation & Excitement!”

I am not sure why this year feels different to me, but it truly does.

I feel as if I have a renewed appreciation for my life, and all of my many blessings.

I also have the desire to grow as a person in so many areas of my life.

I am older and wiser, and I seem to be able to zero in on areas without too much anxiety, or with an attitude of failure before I even begin.



Part of the reason for this growth is, I have learned to take baby steps to achieve a goal.

In the past, it seems as if I looked at the whole enchilada, as the saying goes.
I now choose to look at change as small increments of discovery, and accomplishments.


I love the saying, “ I am just going to chip away at it.”
I think of Michael Angelo, and how he chipped away at a huge slab of marble and created a master piece, one chip at a time.

I am not claiming that I will be making any masterpieces, but I am going to, “chip away,” at my projects and goals, one chip at a time!!


In the upcoming weeks we will all be sharing some of the projects, and goals we would like to accomplish.

  If you are like me I am sure many of the projects and goals on our list will be familiar. Chances are they have been on previous list from years gone by. Sound familiar?



That is Okay, keep them on your list and chip away!!!!

I will be sharing some of my aspirations for the upcoming year in my future post. Some of them will be new and others will be things that I still need to work on.

Most, will not be life changing, but things I would like to add to my life or just subtle changes here and there.
They will involve:

How I spend my time.  
Improvements on my health 
How I spend my monies. 
Changes in my home. 
How I take care of my skin, hair and body  
Wardrobe boosters with new items and colors.

I would imagine my list is quite similar to many of your own list. Where we might differ a bit, is in our approach to all of these areas of our lives.





 Whatever you approach is, I  hope you come along with me for the ride because without all of YOU is just isn’t nearly as much fun!!

Most Popular Post of 2011



I always enjoy the round up at the end of the year, or at the beginning of the new year that some bloggers do.

I thought I would join in with my own round-up.
It seems as if blog land had some favorite post on my blog, or at least they were the most viewed according to the stats.


Number one favorite post was…….




Apparently we in blog land don’t just do a lot of laundry, but we want our environment to be just as pretty, and functional as the other rooms in our homes.

Number Two was…..






I wrote this post as a lesson on how to use a springboard as a starting point in your design for a room.

I have found in my career the one question that almost all of my clients would ask is, “How do you know where to begin?”

Number Three……….


I was amazed at how much traffic this post received. I did this as sort of a random post of some ideas that I thought would be helpful to any homeowner.

I can tell you that there were more copies of  one particular image than any other image I have posted….

Now who would have thought that either one of these ideas would be so popular? You just never know what will be a hit in blog land.

I must admit that the first and the third post were a total surprise to me, but the Springboard post was a post that I put a lot of time and thought into, so it really makes me feel good to see that you, my readers appreciated that particular post.

I guess that is a good thing, it will keep we blog authors on our toes, always searching, and reaching for new and better ideas for our readers.

I hope that I can continue to entertain, inform, and teach you all throughout this upcoming New Year. 

I must say thank you to all of you who have been so faithful in your reading, commenting, and visits here on my blog. It is because of all of YOU that I keep writing.

I am always open to new ideas and request, so if you have a subject that you feel I am qualified to write about, please send me an email and I will do my best to address it.
