Kraft Paper Gift Wrapping

Yesterday’s post was all about Bows so today I thought it was fitting to have a post on creative gift wrapping.

Neutrals seem to be the name of the game this season in Holiday décor.

With a neutral scheme it is fun to coordinate our wrappings with what is going on with the rest of the room.

Kraft paper is the perfect neutral gift wrap, so today we will be visiting some clever ways to use Kraft paper….

It doesn’t get any more simple than natural greens and bakers twine on top of Kraft paper.

For the man in your life a little tuxedo dressing on his gift!

I had to show you this. It is technically faux bois paper, but could be easily applied to Kraft paper. I just love the laced up wrapping.

These lovely Kraft paper boxes are from William Sonoma. I purchased these in white and red a couple of years ago, and had them monogrammed.

For those of you who enjoy a vintage feel!

Adding a little corrugated paper to this Kraft paper a winter scene emerges.

Simple stenciling adds some character to Kraft paper.

Mixing it up a little bit!

Love the pom-pom!!

What a clever use of newsprint!

A little hand stitching and a button!! How about Ho-Ho-Ho for Christmas in red stitching?!

Add a picture of the recipient instead of the traditional gift tag!

Not a package, but a fun embellishment. I can just see these on white paper!!

A lovely scented package!

Did you ever think there could be so many looks for Kraft paper wrapping?

Happy Wrapping!!!

Tying-One-On....To Bow Or Not To Bow?

Since it is the Holiday-Gift-Giving season we will all be wrapping up packages, and tying pretty bows.

Today I want to talk about BOWS!!!

I love a beautiful bow, and trust me I have tied many in my years of holiday gift wrapping, and decorating for weddings.

I even made my own pew bows in 1970 for my wedding.

CHANGES:

Over the years my taste in bows have evolved, and the big abundant, fluffy bows of the 70’s & 80’s  are no longer the bow of my choice.

However, I do realize that many are still tying-one- on, so to speak.

Please know that I am not saying it is wrong, or right. I am just saying I prefer the softer side of ribbons, and bow making.

CAN WE TALK?:

I just wanted to open up a dialogue about when we should, or should-not use the big pew bow style. When is it just too much!?

I prefer a beautiful double faced satin ribbon to a stiff looking ribbon with wire on its edges.

I do use it from time to time, but my preference is an elegant, loosely tied bow.

There will always be those in both camps.

Which camp do you fall into?

Big fluffy pew bows
OR
Soft loosely tied bows

One more question:

Do we really need to put a bow on everything? When is it just too much?

I would love your feedback on how you feel about ribbons, and bows!!

Adding Some Color To My All-White Mantel!

I started with an all white base on my mantel……

As much as I love the clean, simple look of the all white mantel this girl needs a touch of color…..

…..So in comes a touch of red, some pine cones for a bit of texture  to tie in with the basket. Now, it is looking a little better. Still not quite right……

ENTERS…… The Ribbons!!

Can you use ribbon without making a bow?

Making Some Christmas Progress Around The House

We are making a little bit of progress around our house! Nothing earth shattering, but little bits, and pieces of Christmas are starting to emerge.

We have a good all white base going on the mantel……..

The lanterns are in place!! All the white pillar candles are lined up.

The unadorned garland has all  of it's white twinkly lights, and the star is the “STAR” of the mantel!

The tree lights are all aglow, and the tree is waiting for its star!!

Now it is all aglow! Look at how the tree is reflecting in the glass of the picture!! Double star vision!!

Thanks to my Christmas elf my stars are all aglow, and I must say this girl is quite content right now!!!

So much more to do, but we have plenty of time to get the important things done. I am going to hum along and …….
“Enjoy the Process!”
