It is officially two weeks until Christmas!! I can hardly believe it! I am so excited!!
I might be a Grammy, but when it is this time of year I am that little girl inside who loves the lights, music and the anticipation of Christmas Eve waiting for Santa to visit!!
I know many of us feel the crunch right about now, and definitely will be feeling it next weekend.
I have learned one thing over the years,”The Important Things Always Get Done!”
I think this time of year it is so difficult to juggle it all. Work, family, housework, gift buying, decorating, baking!! The list could go on and on!!!
I will admit I am at a point in my life where I have the luxury of more time, and trust me it is a good thing since it seems that everything takes four times longer to do than it use too!!!
Having time feels like a luxury in most of our lives and yet we all have the same 24 hours in a day that our ancestors had.
I think where things go awry is more about how we spend our time, or how we balance our time.
I know it is hard if not impossible to do it all. Trust me YOU CAN’T do it all, but you can do the important things.
So this time of year, really get in tuned with your priorities. Take a 30 minute break to re-group and prioritize what is truly important.
I think you might be surprised when you realize it is not the important people, or things that are making you feel off balance, but it is all of the other, “STUFF!” that you are trying to fit in.
To be honest you really won’t even remember the unimportant things next year or even the next.
However you will always remember the sweet moments, and time you spent with your loved ones.
So my wish for all of you this year is to keep in mind who, and what your priorities are, and place them in proper order.
It will be different for each individual, but dig deep in your heart, and you will find the right, “To Do List!”
It was in your inner child’s heart the whole time just waiting for you to find it !♥
Merry Christmas To YOU and YOUR’S!
This is a beautiful post, Kathysue. The pictures are precious, and your words convey an important message and reminder.
ReplyDeleteIt's actually a blessing that I broke my tailbone recently. It's forced me to slow WAY down, and I've been enjoying the Christmas season more than I have in years!
Merry Christmas to YOU, my friend!

Great message and EXACTLY what I need to start my day! Those images are soooo sweet, has me craving a little one to antitcipate Santas arrival with, oh how I miss those days.
ReplyDeleteSo agree about balance and really stopping to think what abouts truly important, and weeding out the things that don't or won't matter in the long run, I have been doing a lot of that this season with limited time I can only do what I need to do.
Wonderful message, thanks Kathysue!
I had it all totally organised, an easy run up to the trip to the kids. relaxed... then came the wedding!!! It has become bigger than Ben Hur (last post)Acceptances have reached 250 and we know quite a few who are coming and haven't responded!!! Still the whole community is on board and so you are right this, the important thing, will get done and done well... I, just might sleep through Christmas!!!!

ReplyDeleteYou have said it so beautifully. It is the side shows which distract and were not ever important in the first place.
I love this post.

I love this Kathysue! I always feel like a little kid around Christmas. Ugh... two weeks? I haven't bought a thing yet. It's tough this year with the divorce and no support order in place. I'm waiting for the judge to make a decision. Definitely forces you to focus on the meaning of Christmas more. Glad my kids are older at least they will understand. xo
ReplyDeletePrecious images, Kathysue. Thanks for sharing. This post is a delightful way to begin my day!
ReplyDeleteSuch a great post. We took time out yesterday to take Maddie to see a holiday concert at the symphony. It was a whole program geared towards children....and was a magical experience for her. It put me more in the spirit than anything else has all season.
ReplyDeleteHope you are well. xoxox-Susie
Kathysue- What beautiful, beautiful images you have shared with us here. I think my favorite is the little girl in the red pjs reaching up into the tree. I'm with you- what gets done-gets done...what doesn't isn't important anyway. xo Diana
ReplyDeleteBeautifully written Kathysue! Thank you for the reminder to slow down and don't sweat the small stuff.
ReplyDeleteI for one am doing that. I cannot believe I'm not in panic mode right now. Just enjoying the process of getting to know our new son-in-law and anticipating the wedding. Christmas? really? It's the cherry on top, waiting to be enjoyed afterwards! Have a wonderful Sunday! ~Delores

ReplyDeletea great reminder kathy sue.
ReplyDeletelast evening i was getting ready for a club christmas party. not being a "fancy" girl i stressed about what to wear and how my lack of interest in anything other than funky jewelry was letting me down at the moment. my hair was bad and i actually thought of missing the event. pulled myself together and finally talked myself into those issues not mattering. a good time was had by all.
how easy it is to get caught up in the STUFF and miss out on those special moments, especially with loved ones.
big hugs
debra
Kathysue...I can tell from this post and so many others that you have the kindest heart.....your kids were so lucky to have drawn the "mother card" with you. If I forget to say this....I am so glad I started a blog...if only just to meet people like you. I know someday we will get to share a cup of tea together :)
ReplyDeleteSo beautiful Kathysue. I guess we were on the same wavelength. Such a beautiful post. I agree . . .the things always get done . . and they never seem to be the important things anyway. Merry Christmas to you and your beautiful family. My mom is grammy as well! ;)
ReplyDeleteWhat a delightful post. My inner child responded by starting on the Christmas tree with a whole new attitude. I found the bubble lights at my Dad's house and am hanging them up for my grandchildren to enjoy. And yes, we love to lay on the floor and look up at the tree. My brother and I had little green rocking chairs in front of the tree. We spent many happy hours listening to christmas carols, rocking and dreaming of what Santa would bring. Have the best of holidays, Kathysue
ReplyDeletekathysue, you will never know how much I needed that. thank you, donna
ReplyDeletetotally feelin this, kathysue. esp the part about how it takes us longer to do what we used to do!
ReplyDeletehere's to our inner children!

I love this post Kathysue. I love Christmas and have been so busy I can't believe it's only two weeks away. I haven't wrapped the first gift. I've just never been this behind. XO, Mona
ReplyDeleteI had to smile as you
ReplyDeleteand I both have posts
up with all interest-
pinned pics and not
our own; how telling is
THAT about the busy-
ness of the season? But
as you say, the important
stuff rises to the top like
sweet cream...

*** Your WORDS were so wonderful, and truly, obviously heartfelt, Kathysue... and the PICTURES that accompanied them were soooooo heartwarming that I found myself pausing to remember "way back when"... I simply NEED to do that more often, especially nowadays. So, I thank you for reminding me of that!
ReplyDeleteI have a very small family... both of my folks died way too young (when I was in my 30's), and I only have one sister... so the pic of the two little girls in sleeping bags under the Christmas Tree rrrrrrrreeeeally hit home. Jim's an only child of an only child & we're lucky his elderly folks are still with us & doing quite well, but that's about the extent of family, so the memories I DO have of the holidays of my youth are extrememly precious to me...
Thank you, dearest friend, for sharing this, & for "gently reminding" us all to take the TIME to look back. Annnnd, I thank you for letting ME share a few thoughts with you...!
Big holiday hugs,

A lovely message and timely reminder. I'm glad you brought this up and shared those beautiful images, particularly at a time when I am struggling to get it all together for Christmas and feeling like I'm drowning. But really all that matters is being with my family and showing them how much I love them. There's always another Christmas to get the perfect decorations....
ReplyDeleteThe pictures are so beautiful and precious. A great post and a wonderful reminder to us all about what's truly important during this holiday season!
ReplyDeleteWishing you a warm and joyous Christmas season to you and your family!

Lovely post, Kathysue. It is a wonderful reminder to "Enjoy The Process". Do you know I haven't even started decorating or shopping yet!?! I have been working crazy hours and have also had the flu and I'm trying to plan to go to the east coast for Christmas. It's all too much. You post is so timely for me because yesterday I just stopped beating myself up and tried to get some rest so I could get over the flu...first things first and the rest will fall into place. Right?
ReplyDeleteYikes.
Have a wonderful week. XO
Oh so true! I feel like I've been on a breakneck pace for the past week and am actually making/taking the time to visit some blogs this AM for a few enjoyable hours!!!

I used to suffer from Martha Stewart Syndrome and it was at its worst during the holidays. Then I read something that changed my life: Ask your family what few traditions mean the most and forget the rest. I no longer bake dozens of cookies, one of the traditions no one seemed to care about. I enjoy the holidays so much more after giving myself permission to do less.
ReplyDeleteLovely post. Beautiful photos. Remembering the magic of my childhood Christmases. Have a great week,

What a wonderful post for this time of the year and for life in general! It really got me thinking! Thank you! Have a wonderful Christmas!

This is the best post I've read this season. So true! Thanks for reminding us of what's really important. I want to cherish the moments.
ReplyDeleteLovely message KathySue. I decided this weekend to avoid the computer which was wonderful (althought I am paying the price today) And aren't kids in their feetie jammies just adorable? Love all the pics you chose. Merry Christmas to you and yours as well.
ReplyDeleteWhat a perfect post at just the right time!
ReplyDeleteI so agree! I'm thankful that we keep this holiday simple in our home and can take time to remember this waiting and this celebration. Such a good reminder! Visiting from Chatting at the Sky...
