This post was inspired by Karen@StrictlySimpleStyle. I asked a question of my readers on whether they post their project post, before, during or after the project is done? Karen wrote this to me:
Great topic Kathysue. One of the reasons I started my blog was to give me the push I needed to get some things done. At first I was all gung ho and even lost 10 lbs because of all the energy I was expending. Hmmm, maybe I should get motivated and kill two new year's resolutions at the same time, lose a few lbs. and get some things done around the Strictly Simple Style abode! What do you think, maybe I could write the next great weight loss book based on my experiences. LOL!
I loved this comment so much that I had to write back to her.
I had to explain that before blogging I was the girl that did not even know how to turn on a computer.
Yes, this is true and I know it is hard to believe in this day and age. I visited blogs for over a year before I started my own blog.
Fast forward to my first few weeks of blogging. I was so excited to write post and then to get comments, well we all know how exciting it is to get comments.
I actually lost almost 5lbs the first few weeks.
Then……. I discovered you can eat and blog at the same time. I do NOT recommend this at all.
Needless to say I gained back the five pounds and even more.
With all this being said, You can lose weight while blogging, but not if you are eating and blogging at the same time!!
Maybe we should all tell ourselves for every hour we blog we have to exercise for 15 minutes. That would do one of two things.
We would lose weight or we would blog less!!
Something to think about!! Thanks to my sweet friend Karen, who by the way has a great blog with very interesting and inspiring post. Be sure and visit her blog at: http://strictlysimplestyle.blogspot.com/ Tell her I sent you by!!
Susan from Between Naps on the Porch just sent me this post that she did that relates very well to my post today.

Kathysue I think we should team up and run with this idea. We could be the next Bob and Jillian and start a show called "The Shrinking Blogger" .
ReplyDeleteUnfortunately, I learned that you can eat and blog. Typing as I polish off a breakfast taco :) You may be on to something here! Kat
ReplyDeleteFunny, I do sometimes eat while blogging...you, that whole multi-tasking thing! Off subject, can't wait to see the wallpaper you selected! Janell
ReplyDeleteI don't eat while I blog...to messy for the keyboard. And I am an exercise fan so blogging really hasn't affected me either way.(-: But, being stressed does make me loose weight.
ReplyDeleteKathysue,
ReplyDeleteI want to know how you lost 5 lbs when you started blogging. Blogging has been my demise! I have gained 5 lbs since blogging and can't seem to lose those pounds. I call it "Blogger Butt!" I spend way too much time on the computer and neglect basics like cleaning, organizing, exercising, etc. But, I do eat while blogging which is not a good idea. I like your idea that for every hour of blogging, it must balance with 15 minutes of exercise.
I don't eat while I blog :-)
ReplyDeleteI love the comment "blogger butt." I think I have one!! The 15 minutes per hour has crossed my mind, but I haven't managed to implement that theory yet.
ReplyDeleteBest,
Liz
You know, I think you and Karen might be on to something! Very cute post. I need to lose a few pounds so I'll try anything. I had an experience a bit like yours, I lost a few pounds the first few posts because of all the energy but then, like Delores, I would spend too much time on the computer and neglect cleaning, organizing, gardening, etc! I don't eat while blogging but I reward myself after I post! It's a vicious circle.
ReplyDeleteTHANK YOU FOR VISITING ME TODAY KATHY SUE! ANd I can eat ANYWHERE and while blogging? ALL THE BETTER!!!! Anita
ReplyDeleteI definitely have the Blogger Butt! I like your exercise tip, though. I don't eat while blogging but I drink a lot of coffee. Now...if I had energy for some projects!
ReplyDeleteXO,
Jane
Love Karen... she's a sweetheart. It's hard when you see yummy cupcakes or goodies on a blog and you have a sweet tooth, like me. I might try you advice and try to exercise 15 mins for every hour I blog! xo
ReplyDeleteI must be handicapped, I have tried to eat and blog and I can't seem to do it very well. My hands get all messy with the chips and the sandwich and then I have to constantly wipe them off. lol Maybe just a snack instead of a full meal. lol Great post. Have a super weekend. Hugs, Marty
ReplyDeleteKathysue! That was so funny!!!
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun post! I did a post today about living a healthy lifestyle! Love your ideas! ♥
ReplyDeleteLOL
ReplyDeleteUnfortunately, I have not found blogging to be a good weight loss program...unless you do it like this:

:)
Such a funny post, Kathysue!! I've always been adept at eating and sitting at the computer... not a skill that works well for me as you can imagine!! I'm also good at eating while watching Biggest Loser... I think I need a 12 step program!! As for yesterday's post & question = before, during & after :-)

This post made me lol. I was so much like you when it came to this computer stuff, I still wonder that I can do what I do , which is not much ! I have no ideal how some have their post go to others e-mails, I don't know how to do the "here" thing. I can not post more than 5 pictures on any given post (not that I would want too) You know me, I like short and sweet post...lol As for the losing weight... I lost 12 lbs last winter, only to gain it all back. I like to refer to it as the dieting dance... P.S. thanks so much for the extra sweet note you left on my blog and susan's, made me smile.
ReplyDeletelol lol...Yes, it didn't take me long to realize that you can eat while blogging, Kathysue! I like your plan...or maybe I should attach my computer to a hamster wheel and make myself run to get it to work! lol Hope you are warm and cozy today!...hugs...Debbie
ReplyDeleteI can't remember who referred to it as 'bloggers' butt' but I have one right now!
ReplyDeletelove to you, kathysue!

Hysterical. I like the 15 minutes of exercise for one hour of blogging rule.
ReplyDeleteMary Ann
Wow - this is such a great idea! Though I think that would mean I was exercising all night long LOL! I do want to get some ankle weights and at least do some leg stuff while blogging andI know I need to just stretch more. I am working all kinds of other ways to manage my weight and stay healthy by eating my whole foods, drinking water and green tea and I take my daily Vidazorb probiotic. I think for me it's about making many small changes to help my body. Fun Post!
