Let's Make Choosing Paint Colors Easy!

Choosing colors is always going to be subjective. Rules will  change from time to time, but one rule will always stay true………..

“You Have To Love The Color!”

I know that sounds really obvious, but trust me it is not always to everyone.

I  have worked in this industry for many years, and I can not tell you how often a client would be convinced they loved the newest trend color.

They would want to paint their home, or a particular room in that color, whether they had loved the color in the past, or not.

As long as it was the newest trend they were ready to commit.

I actually had one client start our conversation with,

“What is the newest color people are using?”

paint-

It did not matter to her that it did not go with her existing pieces, she just wanted the, “New Kid On The Block!”

Case in point
  • Harvest Gold
  • Avocado Green
  • Country Blue and Mauve
  • Red dining room walls
  • Teal

The list could go on and on, but I think you get my point.

FACT:

There will always be many choices of colors to choose from for your homes, in fact it is almost a bottomless pit of choices.

BUT there will only be a few colors that you will truly
LOVE!

 Point to remember

………Choose a color that you absolutely love. It is so important to your well being that the walls in your home wrap around you, and make you feel comfortable.

When working with my clients I would choose colors that I was pretty sure they would love, and would work with their existing pieces, or the pieces we were going to change.

I always told them, You have to love it!

Just because it looks good with everything does not mean it is right for you.

I have chosen colors that look amazing with a particular room, but the homeowner did not like the color itself, so out it went. It was a NO-GO!!!

Simple to Remember

If you did not love the color before you will probably not love it now, or for long term.

Stick with what you  truly love. It is so easy to be swayed when standing in front of all the different paint chips.

I think we all know what we really love when it comes to color. Just look in your closet. I would venture to say, you probably wear your favorite colors most of the time.

What is your favorite color? Do you have it in your home?

If you don’t you should!!!

Great Ideas For The Summer

ALL ABOUT THE KIDDOS

With the summer months coming up I thought it might be a good idea to have some Great Ideas for the younger family members.

END OF SCHOOL YEAR
At the end of the school year there are parties and lots of fun activities. Some parents like to give the teacher a thank you gift for being such a good teacher to their children.

We all know that teachers get their share of vases, coffee mugs, and picture frames.

There is no way they can ever find room or use all of these items they get.

I think it is nice to give them something they can use up, and enjoy.

Beach towel
Magazine
Mini sunscreen
Treats

END OF THE SCHOOL
It can’t all be fun and games, sometimes we have to be in a teaching mode ourselves.

TEACHING RESPONSIBILITY

MONEY MATTERS

When I ran across this website I knew I needed to share it with my readers……..

Responsibility is one thing we parent’s try to instill in our children as they grow up.

This website is designed  so you can choose the appropriate age of your child, and then it tells you the points they can relate too at their age level.

It also gives you activities that will help you get the point across to them.

SAVING MONEY THE FUN WAY!

Now that you have taught your children how important it is to save money how about giving them a great visual by getting a shadow box and putting a picture of what they are saving for………….

FUN AND GAMES

When my boys were younger there was nothing better than staying outside until the street lights came on. They still talk about that rule to this day.

Just think how fun it would be to let them play in the dark in the front or backyard!……..

Just click on the chilhoodbeckons.com under the above image to read about some fun ideas!!!

Go to the dollar store and purchase glow sticks to add to your bubbles and you will have glow in the dark bubbles.
I prefer a bazillion bubbles, bubble liquid, it really makes great bubbles!

TREATS TO EAT

I love the relaxed, no routine time of the summer, and sometimes it is nice to have a fun dinner. My kiddos love pizza and sometimes we make our own……..

Add a little sauce and they will have fun rolling up their pizza to bake.

Make ice cubes with your favorite fruit juice, or
Kool-aid, and put in a cup of Sprite. When the ice cubes melt the drink will change colors.

I hope this gives you Moms and Grandmas some great ideas to implement with your kiddos this summer.

SIX Steps To A Tidy Home

woman-cleaning-corbis-580xx101910

Do you ever feel as if you need to be more than one person to keep your house nice and tidy?

I have found if I do just six things each morning it helps my home appear tidy, and fresh through out the week.

SIX STEPS TO A TIDY HOUSE

Each of these steps literally takes just a few minutes when done daily…………

1. Go around the house and pick up any items that
don’t belong in the room they were left in, and put
    them away.

2. After doing morning dishes I clean my sink with
cleanser, finish off the sink, and counters with a
spritz of a nice smelling cleaner. Dry off with a
    towel to make shiny.

3. Add a fresh dish rag, and dish towel every day.
Make sure to  put the wet towel, and cloth on the
side of the laundry basket to dry.

4. Clean out bathroom sink, and counter tops with
some type of disinfectant cleaner. Dry sink, and
   faucet to make shiny.

(A little trick is to use a spritz of window cleaner  to make it look sparkling clean. While you are at it, do the mirror too!)

5. Check to see that you have  extra toilet paper
under the sink, and add accordingly.

6. When making my bed I spray my linens with linen
    spray.

(See Side Notes On Today's Post On My Side Bar)

On some days I just pull the sheets back so the bed will air.

I do these six things every day! It really, and truly helps make my house look tidy.

Do you have anything I could add to my list that you do in your own home?
