We are down to the wire now , and the progress we have seen in the last week is remarkable.
In my last update I showed you the house painted, that was such a thrill for me to see. Of all the things that have been done, for some reason seeing the paint on the house made it feel like ours.
Lots of fun discoveries going through this process!
We went yesterday to see her, and now she has some amazing changes that have given her even more personality.
OUR NEW DOOR
When purchasing a new home that is in a development you don’t always get to choose your door unless you want to upgrade it.
The
builder offers certain standard doors according to the elevation you
have chosen. Well as luck would have it I got the door I was hoping for,
just another little gift that came our way.
I love light as you all know so I wanted some windows in my door and I got it!!
The
other wonderful thing is it is black which in my world is a perfect
choice for the gray/blue/green"= Blaygreen color of our home.
It keeps getting better and better!
We also now have shutters, which is something else I wanted, AND we have landscaping too.
I think already told you because of the drought in California we don’t get a front lawn from the builder, but they do give us drought tolerant plantings, and I think they did a pretty good job for this type of landscaping. I am a green lawn loving gal, so this is a bit of an adjustment for me.
Another gift came our way with the landscaping, which we had no say about, but my fingers and toes were crossed that it would be in the purple, periwinkle, white category and not the orange and yellow category. (yes, that is what is offered on some elevations.)
We got it! Some periwinkle and soft purple in rosemary. Happy Dance!!
Yesterday
was the QA walk thru, that is where they come thru and mark anything
that needs to be addressed with painters tape. If you look closely you
can see some on the trim on the garage door.
The painters were working over time last night when we came to visit. They have a lot of houses to finish in the next two weeks. It was fun talking with him.
In
this picture you can see some tape on the shutters as well, they are
pretty dusty so they will look darker once cleaned and touched up.
In the future I would also like a window box. Don’t you think she needs a window box to add to her charm!?
The
touch ups and fix-ups are in progress! They still have to add the
hardware on our garage door to make it look like a carriage door, so she
will be getting her jewelry soon.
The gate will be going up on the fence, and the other side of our fence will be built.
We have a new house going up right next door, so that will be fun to watch it’s progress once we are moved in.
We get the keys to our new home on the 13th if everything stays on schedule. To say we are excited is truly an understatement.
We get to do our walk thru in one week!! I can’t wait to post some pictures of the inside!!
I agree another spiral juniper and a window box would be perfect. What an exciting time for you to see all of this come together.....wish I could see some of our eastern seaboard rain your way!
ReplyDeleteHow exciting!!! You better be packing up your things. You'll be moving before you know it.
ReplyDeleteLooks good, Kathy! That went by fast to me. Enjoy your new home.
ReplyDeleteHi Kathysue,
ReplyDeleteWow every time I see your new home, it is looking better and better!
Window-boxes and adding to the landscape as time goes by the seasons will add a lot!! So exciting now that its down to the wire!

It's coming together - you must be so excited! How nice that you are getting the finishes you like! Best wishes.
ReplyDeleteAnother spiral juniper and a window box would add the symmetry and cottage appeal that you love. Everything is coming together perfectly. I cannot wait to see what you do with the interiors. XO, Victoria
ReplyDeleteI think it is great that they plant drought tolerant plants. We need to let go of the concept of a grassy front lawn. Too many chemicals and water. Also I noticed you appear to have a tiled roof which is great since asphalt shingles end up in landfill in 15 years. Your builder is doing things right.
ReplyDeleteYes to the spiral juniper and window box...that would complete the picture. I'm guessing you cannot alter the landscaping yourself? Or if you can...it has to be approved? I can only imagine your excitement...thrilled for you! ;)
ReplyDeleteHow exciting, soon you will be enjoying living in your new home!
ReplyDeleteKathysue,
ReplyDeleteThis home is so charming and has the best curb appeal. What region are you in in California? We're in Orange County CA. The Mr. And I are thinking there might be one more move in our not too distant future. 😀
xo,
karen
So excited for you. Your idea of a matching plant is great. We are in the process of deciding on a drought tolerant yard . . . hard to leave a green lawn. (actually our's is brown now.) Looking forward to hearing about how the walk through goes.
ReplyDeleteI just love your home! The front door looks fantastic! It's been fun seeing this come together!. Looks like the landscaping is done and should be easy to maintain. The window box would be cute but I did take mine off because there was evidence that it was starting to age the wood trim. I'm anxious to see the interior! You guys must be on cloud nine right now!
ReplyDeleteSo exciting. I know you can't wait. We moved in our house on October 11, 1995. 20 years has flown by and now we really need to downsize, but hubby doesn't agree. He will wait till we are too old. Y'all have done it right.
ReplyDeleteLove your new door! I have black with leaded glass. The neighbors all say the black door makes such a statement. I love how you have the clear glass panel in the middle. It will be so welcoming in the evenings..like a beacon of light!
ReplyDeleteYour landscaping is also beautiful!
Can't wait to see your lovely home when it is complete! How fun and exciting!
Have a great weekend!
Ivy

ReplyDeletei'm all for the window box, and i love the timeless color palette! we moved today, and your countdown is ON! happy weekend and peace to you.
ReplyDeleteWow! just 13 days, how exciting! Yes, a window box would be the finishing touch. Happy new week!
ReplyDeleteHow exciting to have a date and soon. It does look cozy already, but that window box will be the finishing accessory piece. Can't wait to see inside.
ReplyDeleteIts coming along Kathy...so excited for you! Im sure its going to feel good to get out of the apartment and into your own home.
ReplyDeleteIt all looks so pretty, Kathysue, crisp and clean...love the wood floors and the kitchen...fabulous! Can't wait to see more!
