Give Pine Cones a Whole New Look for The Holidays

Pine cones are a wonderful natural element to use for decorating during the Holidays.

They can be rustic or glammed up to meet your needs.

Last year my friend Loi of Tone on Tone blog showed how he used bleached pine cones in his home full of soft neutrals.

Did you know you can bleach a pinecone? Who knew?

  2. Get.Out!! Lol!! Bleached pinecones! I LOVE IT. Good old Loi, he's always doing something gorgeous. Are you going to use those? I might have to try that for my Thanksgiving table. Thank you for sharing this ;-) I'm all about pine cones this year and I'm loving that mercury glass, too. Lots to try.

  3. I've thought about spray painting some pine cones (did not imagine the "mirror" paint though, holy cow), or the old "glue and glitter" trick, but never occurred me to try bleach, ooohhh! LUV the color. A mixed bowl of such finished pine cones would be fabulous, or a garland. Or tucked here and there among my Christmas tree, this year I am going pearly and gold, with some silver and champagne color thrown in. You got the creative juices going...

  4. WOW! I have spray painted them before, but the bleach is genius! My brother and sister n law have hundreds of pine cones in their yards and I will come home with a bag full and turn them blonde to have more fun...decorating my place, lol.

  5. I love the idea of bleached pinecones...something new to try this Christmas. It serves another purpose to - getting rid of any bugs that may be hiding in the pinecones picked up in the garden. In the past, I have put them in the oven on low heat. Bleaching would accomplish the same thing with a more interesting looking result. Thanks to you and Loi.
