We are still
working on the family room plans. I am waiting for the sofa fabric to
come in, but have made all the decisions on the design of the sofa and
the ottoman.
I also have made a decision on the winter pillow combinations.
WINTER FABRIC COMBINATION
The four fabrics on the right are for pillows and a seat cushion on a small cream wooden chair.
The first vine pattern will be a pillow for the white chair on the right side of my fireplace.
The buffalo check will be the seat cushion on the opposite side of the room.
The linen with the stripes will be an over-sized lumbar pillow spanning almost the length of the sofa.
The
embroidered Suzani will be on a pillow for the white chair on the left
side of the family room, closest to the buffalo check.
Of course this could change along the way, but right now it feels pretty solid.
NEWS FLASH:
A DESIGN MIRACLE HAS OCCURRED!
Some
exciting news, at least for me! My sweet hubby is on board to change
our wainscoting, and paint color. I can hardly believe it. Trust me when
I say this is a DESIGN MIRACLE!!!
Here is a picture of what I am planning on having him do……..
OR
The difference between the two is in the way the baseboards are made.
I
have been talking about this for a very long time, and he would never
get on board, but now that he is retired he will have more time to work
on it.
This will truly be a labor of love because he does not really enjoy this type of work even though he is very good at it.
As
far as the color goes, I am making swatches of some colors in a creamy
linen. Light and bright with a contrast to the upcoming white
wainscoting.
I
always like to have a good size swatch with at least 2-3 coats of paint
so I can move them around the room. Poster board works great for this.
I am still waiting on a couple more samples to make a decision on my Spring/Summer pillow combination. The one I am most excited about getting is the Mary McDonald’s new fabric line for Schumacher in…..
No Fret….color: lettuce
That is the latest update on our family room. I will keep you all posted as we make a little headway.
Good news! I have a hard time getting my hubby to see eye to eye with me on a lot of decorating decisions. One of them is choosing fabric for two chairs we are having reupholstered. The fabric I have fallen in love with is exactly like your fabric for the pillow, the blue ticking strip. He claims it is very 1980's looking! I so disagree. If you can, pop by my blog tomorrow as I will be posting the fabric samples and how they coordinate with my sofa. I would love your opinion.

Congratulations!
ReplyDeleteI love the fabrics! Great choices.
But.
Your new wainscoting and paint color is FABULOUS!
I can understand your treating it as a Miracle!
So happy we have GREAT men!!!!
My husband is the same. Although he can do DIY projects, he doesn't really enjoy it so it is always a major moment when he agrees to do a project with me. I love the combinations you have chosen (and love that you have a summer and a winter version).
ReplyDeleteI have a question for you though. I love the navy/royal blues with white that you have chosen for the winter version and was thinking of putting something similar in our family room in drapes, cushions, and possibly a stripe in a carpet. So far the walls are a very pale green (BM Tea Light) and the sofa is a very soft gray-green (like a green version of a faded denim, if that makes sense). There are no other permanent colours in the family room as the floor is a fairly dark wood and the fireplace is white. Do you think the navy/royal blues would go with the gray-green colours or do they only go with the fresh bright green you have chosen? Thanks. I'd love to know your thoughts on it.
Yay, I'm so glad you are finally going to get your wainscoting! Loving your latest fabric choices. It looks like you are having fun with the whole process!
ReplyDeleteThink the fabric choices are just beautiful....any wainscotting/molding details makes such a huge huge difference.....enjoy it!
ReplyDeleteIt is going to look sooooooooo pretty. I can't wait to see it. Hugs, marty
ReplyDeleteI am loving all your choices and thrilled about your new wainscoting project.
ReplyDeleteOh happy day!!!!
I look forward to the finished project and can't wait to see it in person!!!
Much love,
Terri
Exciting!
ReplyDeleteYou are so lucky
ReplyDeletethat your hubby is
on board with all
of the pillows! Mine
can't stand decorative
pillows so it is a small
bone of contention in
our home : ) Love the
idea of a long lumbar
pillow ~ that one might
just fly....
Glad you are having
so much fun with your
decorating, Kathy Sue!
Happy Monday,
xo Suzanne
What a coup! I know husbands can be challenging with change..scary-NOT!!! I love change, and my hubs is rooted in concrete. Love your moulding plans, it is going to look so upscale. Pretty spring color combos, too.

Love all the plans, Kathysue and can't wait to see it all brought to fruition.
ReplyDeleteGreat news about your husband coming on board with the paneling - that will look fabulous. How exciting. And I do love your choices for the winter/summer collections of fabrics. I am off today to look at the new Mary McD range so now doubt that will confuse me further. I love your range of fabrics, and that embroidered suzani is to die for. It's going to look beautiful.
ReplyDeleteI'm sure this will all turn out beautifully! And when your husband hears all of your praise, he will feel pretty good about the work!
ReplyDeleteI love your winter fabrics! And blue ticking is NEVER wrong!!! Can you give me the names/sources of these fabs? Thanks and good luck!
ReplyDeleteLove everything.....don't you love when the hubby's are on board!
ReplyDeleteKathysue, I love all the fabrics and they will be beautiful in your home. Yah, for your husband getting on board with your design.
