Look At What I Have Been Up Too!!!

When I am working on a project I can get very focused. Sometimes to a fault!! My mind can’t let go of a project until I get it nailed down.

I don’t have it totally nailed down yet, but I am getting closer to the look I want in my family room. I still have several swatches coming so nothing is in cement yet.

You all know that I am a planner, and all details need to be ironed out before orders will be placed.

Since I like a semi- casual-elegant look I tried to keep that in mind when sourcing out fabrics.

The larger swatch is the fabric for my sofa, and ottoman. Both the sofa, and ottoman will be piped in white to keep it bright, fresh and crisp.

This is what I have been up to this past week, instead of writing blog post……….

The upper right hand fabric has a light natural linen colored background, not white. The large leaves are actually a light sage/celadon green outlined in a darker sage/celadon green which happens to be the exact color of my kitchen cupboards. The reason I am even mentioning this is my home is an open concept home so the kitchen and family room are seen when in both rooms.

The upper right hand fabric is a small print with a repeat of 3 in. Here is a picture of the actual size of the pattern on a pillow, but in a different colorway...........

Now that you have seen all of the mixes which ones do you like or for that matter, dislike. Please leave a comment to give me your opinion. I always love hearing from my readers. Trust me I know design is subjective!

Can’t wait to hear what you all have to say, remember none of these fabrics have been ordered yet, and the only one in cement is the ticking stripe!!

Let the Design Games begin!!

  1. Dear Kathysue
Thank you for these ideas. My choice would be No2 or No4 and I think the ticking is a great fabric.
Had a large couch covered in it when my children were young and it always looked fresh and clean.

  3. I like #1 and #4 the most (in that order), and dislike #6. Opinions are a nice perk to a blogger, I would imagine. Have fun.

  4. They are all lovely, I especially like the ticking stripe adding a touch of one of the florals with it would be very nice.

  5. I love white and blue and green! What great choices!!! I am a lover of buffalo plaid so I'm going for 1 and 6. Fun to choose!

  6. My favorite is #1, but I'm sure any one you choose will look beautiful! Miss you, xoxo Vicki

  9. Really liking all of them but 1 and 5 are what drew me in the most. That said, you cannot wrong with any, they are all beautiful!

  10. I'm glad you are finally getting your blue ticking sofa! As far as the coordinating fabrics, I like number 1 and number 6. I feel that the geometrics will be dated soon and you may get tired of them as well. I like the second stripe in number six and the floral in both. Easy on the buffalo check. I could see it as a couple of pillows with the floral as pillows on the sofa Liking the smaller floral for a chair? Whatever you choose, it will be wonderful and have your name written all over it! ~Delores

  11. I really like #1 (love the fabric on the bottom right). The fabric on the top left in #3 doesn't seem to coordinate on my monitor as it looks too turquoise. I'm looking forward to seeing what you do.

  12. 2, 3 & 4 are really great. Fresh, crisp & classic. Not feeling5 and 1. I have to get everything nailed down before proceeding on a project too. I always ending up loving the final installation knowing that the details are just right:)

  14. Kathysue, love this color pallet. My favorites are #1 & #5. Makes me want to use some of these fabric choices for our sunroom. It's got dark green trim with neutral walls. We are going to have new cushions made for the chairs and ottomans. I'd like to do the cushions in the ticking and the buffalo checks - one on each side so we can mix and match. Then do accent pillows in the florals and geometric. ;-)
The floral in top right corner of # ! is gorgeous!

  17. Number 3 is my least favorite for some reason. I do like #1 & #2. You have not made this an easy decision, have you.

  18. Hi Kathysue,
I really like #2 and #4 the best. I think both of these options are a perfect mix of traditional with a modern pattern thrown into the mix. I also like that the green is highlighted in a bigger way.
Can't wait to see the end result.

  19. I vote for number 6. It just looks like you..love the ticking stripe mixed with the buffalo check and while not big fan of chinoiserie the fabric just reminds me of you. I like the punch the single stripe brings to the mix and love that pillow!

  20. So it's 4 for me. I love the striped lumbar pillow and the floral. You could also use a solid green with the greek key pattern as the welting.

Can't wait to see it! Good luck!

  22. I was all into No. 1 until I got to No. 6 with the addition of the stripe. Of course they're all nice. I love doing this for clients too!

  23. My favorite is #1 (I love urns) or #5 depending on what opportunities you have to use the check -- small doses, I hope. I love the multi-flanged pillow. They are all lovely, but I like these two best.

  25. Tough decision as they are ALL very nice :) I think I'd probably go with number 5. Sounds like you're having lots of fun with this! I always enjoy house projects and like you, focus on something specific until complete;)

I had to delete my other comment because I was typing from my phone! I need to stop doing that!!

  26. I like number two. I just found your site and have enjoyed browsing through your archives. I am moving to a new state and have been house hunting. As a visual person I need to see ways to decorate potential homes. For example, one home doesn't have an entry hall, so I Googled "no entry hall" and found you! Great ideas!
