Dancing Around The Thanksgiving Table!

Do you allow dancing around the dinner table?!

Dinner is ready to serve, and you have asked everyone to come in, and have a seat.

You still have a few things to bring to the table. The beverages need to be served. Water, Ice Tea, Milk?

Then!!! The big question ensues. Where do you want me to sit? Should I sit here? Your mind starts spinning, oh dear!!! Should they sit there?

No, that won’t work! Should they sit there? Okay fine! Just sit wherever you'd like. Now the dance around the table begins.

I don’t have anything against dancing, but around the table right before dinner is probably not the best place to do it!

To eliminate this scenario I found the best solution!
Placecards! Not the kind you write on paper, but place cards that can be used year after year, meal after meal.

They are called Placetiles and they are wonderful. The owner, and designer is talented Kristin Bowen.

She says:
 Our PlaceTiles & MessageTiles are
free standing and self supporting.
Each piece is stamped with
the PlaceTile Design logo and
signature of designer,

Kristin Bowen

Here are just a few of her wonderful designs………

1 (300x300)2 (300x300)
5 (300x300)
This one also includes a small place in the back to put flowers. I love this idea. I think this would make a wonderful wedding gift, or any special occasion for that matter!

6 (213x250)
They come beautifully displayed in a lovely box lined with white satin and with a dry eraser pen. You just wipe the name off when the special meal is over and put them away until next time.

I have had mine for several years and use them for all my large gatherings.

Kristin has a blog that shows how she and others use these, and she also has some yummy recipes. I just discovered her blog while doing this post.

If you would like to order these go to her web-site and see all that she has to offer. You won’t be disappointed.

PlaceTile Designs

I have had my placetile  ceramic placecards for several years and have really enjoyed using them, and it really does eliminate the dance around the table!!

You can see my placetile ceramic placecards in this picture of my table last year.....

The black marker just wipes right off so they can be used again and again!!

A good investment, don't you think?

  2. I have some of them...but my own are Christmas themed with just a dash of holly and berries around the edges. I love them. I got them on closeout several years ago and they were dirt cheap....(my kind of buy). xo Diana

  3. Years ago, our daughter then age five, made Thanksgiving place cards. She illustrated each family member and added their name. We still have them and use them. Sadly many beloved members are no longer with us. But the place cards always bring back the memories.
As an adult , she has continued to make cards for each new member.

  4. In addition to being a fabulous chef, you are a gracious hostess, my friend! I'd love to visit and have some of those ghost donuts in your dining room.....while admiring your striped wallpapering :)
    Love the placecards, Kathysue.
Hope you are doing well. We are finishing our trip, and coming home tomorrow.

  5. Yes. The DANCE.
    Funny, but true!
    Especially if it's
    mixed company....
    The men don't
    want to be trapped
    on all sides by the
    ladies when they
    really want to be
    dishing it with the
    other guys: ) We
    try the "boy-girl-
    boy-girl" set up,
    but in the end, we
    tend to divide by
    the sexes when the
    conversation starts
    up.

    Cute cute placecards,
    Kathysue!

  6. I don't have these very handy place cards. I don't allow husbands and wives to sit together during dinner parties. These would be an easy way to stop the dance! I love that they are not only stylish but also reusable! Great tip!
