The Pretty Side Of Halloween

When my boys were little we would go all out with our decorations for Halloween.

Young families would walk their children around the neighborhood in groups. I would always have hot cider in  To-Go cups for the parents. Friends would stop by, and visit for a few minutes.

It was so much fun, and has given us all some sweet memories.

One thing I never liked was scary decorations. There are too many precious little ones out there in costumes waiting for a treat, not a scary trick.

I did not want to traumatize the sweet little ones in Cinderella, or Spiderman costumes.

Since Halloween is right around the corner I thought I would show you the prettier side of Halloween.

Let’s look at the cute, pretty, and in some cases sophisticated side of Halloween……..

Go to Goodwill and find some inexpensive items to spray paint black and add some cute little pumpkins with happy faces!!

Speaking of black spray paint!……….

This is my kind of Halloween decorating. Again, go to Goodwill and purchase those inexpensive vases we all have seen and spray them matte black! This is one of my favorite ideas for my home.

If you prefer a little more glitz and bling in your decorations check these out…………

GLITZ, SPARKLE, AND SHINE,
 OH MY!

I love the ghost with the gold chain, so cute!!

Real oak tree leaves were sprayed and attached to a white pumpkin, this is so pretty and elegant.

This is not only pretty, but a fun way to display your address.

By using a band of sequins this pumpkins becomes fun, and glitzy!

STACKING PUMPKINS

Take your pick of which golden treat you would like for your pumpkin.

Stacked pumpkin in a bookcase with the silhouette of a tree painted on them! Now this is clever!!

  1. Kathysue, I am so with you. I've never liked the scary side of halloween. I as well have fond memories of the cuteness of it all. Although, it seemed my parents always had me as a witch (lol) Always a cute whimsical one though. Enjoyed your post. ~Jen

  2. I agree. The scariest thing I have ever used is a crow and a smiling spider. LOL I don't go for the whole gore and blood thing. We now go over to my son's house for Halloween b/c they have a better neighborhood for Trick or Treating than we do. Too may retirees who turn off their lights. Bah! :-( Love these pumpkin ideas. The stacked pumpkins with the tree design is brilliant! But, at the prices of pumpkins these days that would be a $200 project around here. LOL

  7. Lots of great examples Kathysue, but I LOVE the idea of having hot cider for the parents (mostly the daddies in our neighborhood) who take the kids trick-or-treating.

  8. Love that lace pumpkin. Now that's pretty! I'm with you about Halloween. To be honest, I'm not a fan of all the scary decor, but love piling the pumpkins (preferably the white and green ones!) on the front porch. Just not an orange fan, however, Go Giants. I can wrap my mind around the black and orange tonight! ~D

  11. So glad to see this post! I've always felt the same way about Halloween…I've seen so many scary decorations lately and it does make me wonder how the little children aren't frightened by it! Love all of these "happy" Halloween decorations! Great ideas!
