Artichoke Green Is A Great Color For Fall

Since I don’t use the traditional Autumnal colors I have to be creative with my color choices for Fall. I love just about any hue of green.

In my own home my kitchen/dinette is wallpapered in a bright sage green and white striped wallpaper………

For the fall I add an urn with an over sized lime green pumpkin. Lamps have replaced the ferns for a soft warm glow of light for upcoming Fall/Winter months. These lamps have an artichoke green base with hand painting on them. By using the pumpkin and the lamps my dining room can now take on a Fall look.
Sherwin Williams has a nice green called, Artichoke green:
SW6179

Artichoke green is a perfect Fall color to use in our homes….

Whether you choose to  use it on the walls or in your accessories as I chose to do in my dining room, it will give your room a warm and inviting feeling.

The color of artichokes is also beautiful to use in its natural form as a decorative touch………

I must admit that I probably would not be using a bow for any of these arrangements. I prefer a simple knot vs. a bow for my own personal taste. I do love the contrast of the purple with the green. I think this is a lovely color combination for any Fall arrangement.

Isn’t it interesting how Mother Nature’s colors is our inspiration once again? I think it is  a good reminder to always keep your eyes and your mind open throughout your every day activities. You never know where your next inspiration will lead you!!

  2. Love this Kathy Sue!! I LOVE the color of artichokes, one of my favorite greens. It is beautiful in a home, and your dining room is gorgeous! I love the big urn with th moss green pumpkin on the center of your table. I think its a beautiful rich timeless color year round, and a beautiful accent to many color schemes. Thanks for this beautiful reminder as we all get busy tweaking our homes with fall accents.

  3. Various images to inspire. I love greens, deep oranges, plums and golds colors for autumn. Although, in general green is one of my favorite colors to use in design.

  7. KS - I think artichoke green and casper white pumpkins and small pops of roan, such as bittersweet, would be absolutely beautiful in your already stunning dining room. You are in the same predicament I am when it comes to Spring pastel colors. They just don't look good with my home. So I, too, have to be creative.

We're on a countdown, my friend. I am gonna squeeze in some shopping time this week. I need a new pair of comfy flats and maybe a new pair of capris. Gonna try to pack light. :) ttys

  8. Kathysue-
No matter how hard I try, I can't stop using green. It just makes a room. I love a brown olive on walss in the bedroom, and deep emerald green is also a favorite.
You dining room is stunning. You have done a beautiful job. LOVE the stripes.
    Have a great day.

  14. I have had every shade of green in my homes. From celery, to forest green, teal, sea foam, and now ARTICHOKE! I have most often used it as a carpet color. Now that carpets are more neutral, I am using it on my bedroom walls. Very restful.

  15. Any one know how to actually "core" an artichoke to use it for votives? It seems like it is too thick to do that with ease..great pics though. Nate Berkus showcased this color on the Today show this morning and is calling it asparagus green...he said any name except for Avocado which will remind us of those old appliances. funny how one word can change our opinion!

  16. Kathysue....I love how you put those lamps on a pedestal! Have you done that every year or just this year? What a great idea. I didn't know I loved artichoke green until you showed me :)

  18. Love what you did with your room. I have the Sherwin Williams color (not from SW though) in my dining room which is on the N side of the house. Here in OH it leaves you with a "cold" feeling. I am debating whether to add stripes like your wallpaper. I have tempered it with taupe & black.

I'll have to get some pumpkins to see how they look on my table;)

  27. Artichoke, asparagus green! love the color names and love so many shades of green. Do find that green needs a little pep up in my great room so I'm adding some lively shades of blue, honeysuckle/raspberry, and a touch of yellow with the blue-green scheme I've got going. Just a dab to get the energy flowing.

  28. Kathysue, Your artichoke green really speaks to me. I'm a 'green person' too and use it a lot in my home. I love using artichokes for votive holders and decoration, but so many times I 'opt out' in using them for a post because of the price. They were $3.50 each the other day at the grocery store. I'm shopping for some nice dried ones to use as vase fillers, and every day decorating.
    Great inspirational photos.
