Making a new List!

6a00d83452408569e201156f9560f8970c-400wi[1]
I never really thought of myself as a “List Girl.” I thought those girls were a little obsessive. You know, the ones who are always writing every little detail that goes on in their everyday life. I am not one that needs to have a list to remind me of the every day task.

I am, however, a girl that will make a list for special occasions where I might be doing things out of the ordinary. With that being said I have started a new list!!
I am an avid user of 3x5 index cards for my lists. They are the perfect size to put in my wallet and to carry around a  store.

My new list is things that I want to look for when I go thrifting!! You know how distracted you can become when there is so much to look at. I just started a new list and so far on my list reads:
  1. Table for my porch-20wX25H
  2. Coffee cups for Hubbies work buddies
  3. Spooner for Bakelite knives(Like Ina Garten)
  4. Restaurant silver tray and silverware
  5. Large textural basket for center of my table
  6. Interesting baskets for decor
  7. Small oval white platters
  8. wooden cutting boards
I will carry this with me when I go thrifting or Goodwill Hunting!! I am sure I will add to it as time goes by. At least I have a list and a focus now.

Do you all make list like these? What would be on your list?!

  1. Kathysue,
I am a list gal! If my tasks/appt/things to do isn't on a list it doesn't get done!

  2. LOL Kathysue! I think I'm carrying the same list! Except for the coffee cups... :)

  4. That is a great idea. I end up with post it notes stuck everywhere around my purse, which isn't nearly as helpful as a little index card would be.

  5. Kathysue...your list looks very much like mine!

    Happy Weekend!

  6. Hi Kathysue! Oh oh oh!! I want to go, too! We'd have so much fun! I love how you see a picture and focus in on one tiny detail, like the glass container for your knives. I was watching someone's interview on TV (can't even remember who) and they were sitting on a chair like the lovely seagrass one at Carol's and that's all I remember about the interview! lol I'm sure you will find a container that's perfect! I hope you have a happy weekend!...hugs...Debbie

  7. Girl, you are singing my song when you say you get distracted. I do too! I see great inspiration all over Blogland and think to myself...The next time I go thrifting, I need to start looking for ______ (fill in the blank with whatever I saw that inspired me). However, once I'm actually in the stores, I totally forget all those wonderful inspiring things I wanted to look for. Frustrating! I think I just might have to try your index card list idea. Thanks for sharing! :)

  9. I should make list because I can be so scatter brain. I do when I have a ton of errands or need something special from the grocery store. Most of the time I forget the list!!

Good luck finding all that is on yours!

    xoxo

  10. I am a total list girl....you should see my list at the moment. Funny....my husband went to my DR appt with me today and we went to lunch afterwards....I pulled out a bank deposit slip to make a list and the look of panic on his face was funny.....I put it away :) I guess his list is long enough! Have a great weekend.

  11. I think a shopping list is essential when you go antiquing or thrifting -- keeps you on task! That said, I'm generally a big fan of lists. I love nothing more than crossing them off! ;)

    Happy weekend, Kathysue!

  13. Welcome to the wonderful world of lists. I couldnt live without them. And the best part is scratching something off...it gives you such a sense of accomplishment.

    Fun post

  14. I make lists, not of everything I do...but I tend to forget things if I'm thinking about several projects at once.

First on my list...a desk to redo for my "office" space.

  15. I don't consider myself obsessive at all, however, I do lists! A myriad of things ~ groceries, shopping/errands I want to accomplish in one trip, things I'm on the lookout for, you name it.

I've always wanted to be Ina Garten when I grow up! :-)

  16. Lists are a good thing. We are always looking for so many things for our clients that it is real easy to forget something. sometimes I just feel like I am walking in circles. Have a great weekend. Mona

  18. Pinky, I love label makers and I borrowed one and had a ball with it. It makes you want to label everything that is standing still!!

  19. I am a list maker always have been. I am easily distracted once I get into a store and would never remember what I was looking for without my list.

I had to chuckle about the label maker. I did the same thing when I got mine. Labeled everything that possibly needed a label ha.

  21. I'm another list addict - I have so many lists, I can hardly keep track of them all, and recently had to split them into separate Google docs for sanity!
But I think it's a wonderful idea of yours to have a list for thrifting - it can be very easy to get overwhelmed, otherwise.

  22. Are you kidding me? Between Mom's Dr. appts, helping get my niece ready for back to school, work and running Chris' business, if I didn't have lists I'd probably forget to dress before I left the house LOL. Hope you find just the right container for your bakelite! Hugs, Kat

  23. I like to think I am "opportunistic" ! Sometimes I write the list, but I seldom make it to the store with it. The act of writing it down seems to help me remember. I will admit, when there's alot to do, a list is a good thing, but most of the time, I just wing it!

  24. I love lists and couldn't live without them, but I never need one while thrifting, for when "I'm in the zone" I would never remember I had even made one!

  25. Goodness, this is
    THE perfect solution
    for me!!! I am the
    ultimate overwhelmed
    person at junk sales,
    antique malls or GW.
    NOW, as I think of
    things I want or need
    to look for, I'm going
    to put them on cards.
    Love it ~ thanks,
    Kathysue!
    xx Suzanne
