My Simplified Summer Porch

My porch has a new look thanks to my talented DIL. She helped me out one day, and took everything off my porch, cleaned it off, and changed the look up a bit.

I love the clean simple look. It was fun for me to see how she envisioned my porch.

Here is  how my porch looked last year in the fall…….

She simplified the look by taking the lamp off the table, and adding white pillows that I had on my couch. She added a pop of green with my large green vase and filled it with white flowers.

I am one lucky lady to have such a helpful, talented DIL!!!

Seeing these pictures is making me want a new table!!!

Now I am on the quest for a new table!

What kind of table do you all think would look good sitting between my two chairs?

Simple Solution To Keep Track of YOUR Drinks

I don’t know about you all, but in the summer months my family goes through lots of bottled water.

Since we have a pool I prefer plastic out by the pool, so we will either use plastic bottles, or cups(don’t worry, we recycle!)

PROBLEM

“Uh, excuse me, but I think you are drinking my water!”

I came up with a simple solution, or so I thought! Just put your name on the drink with a marker.

Sounds like the perfect solution, but not everyone knows where I keep my marker, and if they do, they won't always go to the drawer to get the marker, so I came up with a better idea!!!

SOLUTION

Marking our water bottles 011 (800x600)
Keep the marker in the refrigerator next to the drinks!!!

Marking our water bottles 013 (800x600)

Velcro is my new best friend.

I placed the self-stick prickly side on the edge of the shelf in the door.

The fuzzy side was placed on the marker.

VOILA

Marking our water bottles 015 (800x600)
Now everyone can put their name on their bottle.

No more waste! No more half-full bottles sitting around!!

I have done this all summer and so far I must say it has worked beautifully.

If you have the same problem in your house, try it, I think you will like it!!!!

~Bouncing Right Along~

I found these tips about using BOUNCE fabric softener sheets the other day while perusing blogs. I am not even sure where I got it from.

If you see this and it is your list please let me know!! I will be glad to give credit where credit is due.

I love tip sheets for every day common items we only use one way. Finding out there are so many ways to use a softener sheets is always a plus in my book.

SHALL WE BOUNCE RIGHT ALONG?!

1. It will chase ants away when you lay a sheet near them. It also repels mice.

2. Spread sheets around foundation areas, or in trailers, or cars that are sitting and it keeps mice from entering your vehicle.

3. It takes the odor out of books and photo albums that don't get opened too often.

4. It repels mosquitoes. Tie a sheet of Bounce
through a belt loop when outdoors during mosquito season.

5. Eliminate static electricity from your television (or computer) screen.

6. Since Bounce is designed to help eliminate static cling, wipe your television screen with a used sheet of Bounce to keep dust from resettling.

7. Dissolve soap scum from shower doors. Clean with a sheet of Bounce.

8. To freshen the air in your home - Place an individual sheet of Bounce in a drawer or hang in the closet.

9. Put Bounce sheet in vacuum cleaner.

10. Prevent thread from tangling. Run a threaded needle through a sheet of Bounce before beginning to sew.

11. Prevent musty suitcases. Place an individual sheet of Bounce inside empty luggage before storing.

12. To freshen the air in your car - Place a sheet of Bounce under the front seat.

13. Clean baked-on foods from a cooking pan. Put a sheet in a pan, fill with water, let sit overnight, and sponge clean.
The anti-static agent apparently weakens the bond between the food and the pan.

14. Eliminate odors in wastebaskets. Place a sheet of Bounce at the bottom of the wastebasket.

15. Collect cat hair. Rubbing the area with a sheet of Bounce will magnetically attract all the loose hairs.

16. Eliminate static electricity from Venetian blinds. Wipe the blinds with a sheet of Bounce to prevent dust from resettling.

17. Wipe up sawdust from drilling or sand papering. A used sheet of Bounce will collect sawdust like a tack cloth.

18. Eliminate odors in dirty laundry. Place an individual sheet of Bounce at the bottom of a laundry bag or hamper.

19. Deodorize shoes or sneakers. Place a sheet of Bounce in your shoes or sneakers overnight.

20. Golfers put a Bounce sheet in their back pocket to keep the bees away.

21. Put a Bounce sheet in your sleeping bag and tent before folding and storing them. It will keep them smelling fresh.

22. Wet a Bounce sheet, hose down your car, and wipe love bugs off easily with the wet Bounce.

23. Put a sheet of Bounce in your suitcase when traveling, it will help keep mites or any other critters out of it. While you are at it, travel with several Bounce sheets and run them up and down your bed linen before getting into bed, it will cause all the critters already in your bed to run. Keep a sheet in your suitcase even after you have unpacked to protect your suitcases from bugs nesting in it.

My own tip: I rub a dryer sheet on my pillows and the overlap on my sheets when I make my bed, it keeps them smelling fresh until I put fresh sheets on the bed.

I am not sure it has to be bounce or if other softener sheets will work. I personally use snuggles so maybe I will do a little snuggling!!!

Have a wonderful Sunday!!
