More blue and white with a little addition!

It is no secret that I love the cool classic look of blue and white. When looking at images of this classic color combination I found that I am always drawn to images with one pop color and that color is PINK!
I think a blue porcelain vase with pink flowers is always beautiful.

I have used this picture before in this post. It still attracts my attention because of the soft blue walls and the beautiful simplicity of the pink floral arrangement.

I realized when doing this post I like the blue and white to be the dominate colors and the pink to be in a small dose as an accent, usually in a floral arrangement simply done. How about you? Do you prefer more pink with your blue or, do you have another accent color that you like with blue?

This is blue in the form of turquoise, but again I like the little doses of pink as an accent.

This is the only picture where I found pink to be the dominate and blue as the accent. I think this space is so interesting and the pink is soft enough and surrounded by a neutral, making it is very pleasing to my eye.

I learned a little about myself doing this post. It appears that I love blue and white in the forms of any blue and white!! As far as pink I like it mainly in small doses, usually in flowers. I hope this opens your creative minds to possibilities of using some blue and white with your own personal preference of an accent color.

A Relaxed Blue Sunday!!

This past Sunday I had the best day with a friend. It was not a complicated girl's day. It was a simple relaxed time with a friend. We met up at Barnes and Noble. First we each got an iced Passion Tea with Lemonade and then we started perusing. First on the agenda was to find some summer reads for plane rides and trips to the beach. I found a few that will be fun girly reads. I went to the design section and pulled several books to look at and my friend went to the cook book section.

I skimmed quickly through about three books and then I came to one that took my breath away. It is not a new book but a book full of the most gorgeous pictures I have seen in a long time. I know beauty is subjective but I can not imagine anyone looking at this book and not ooohing and aaaahing.

I am talking about the book by Carolyne Roehm, “A Passion for Blue and White.” I guess if you don’t like the color blue you probably won’t enjoy this book. This girl however loves blue and white. In fact I use it a lot in my home for the summer months to cool the look of my home for the hot summer weather. You can see how I incorporate blue and white in this post showing my summer mantle.

As I turned each page I became more and more relaxed and almost felt like I was on a wonderful trip that was surrounding me with nothing but beauty. I think when a book can do that it is a reallllly good book. I have a few images from the book that caught my eye, well actually they all did, but you must see the book for yourself.

Simple Elegance at its best!

Whenever a setting is done with multiples and with a tight color pallete it gives one the Wow Factor!!

This is symmetry done well. It looks inviting and pleasing to the eye, but not contrived.

I love blue and white porcelain pieces with pops of pink. This is one of my favorite combinations. I like to use this combination in my backyard pots and planters.

This is only a small amount of the blue beauty you will get when you read this wonderful book. This has inspired me to get out my blue and white pieces and revamp my home for summer. I love to be inspired by such beauty, don’t you?

My Dad

My Dad! I can hardly think of him without getting big tears in my eyes. He is no longer with us and he died at a very young age (47). The tears I shed are sometimes for sadness but other times for joy.

He was a man among men as far as I was concerned. We were raised to pretty much think he could walk on water. I actually thought I was going to marry him until I turned 10yrs old and I found out that was not done. On my actual wedding day after he walked me down the aisle he sat down and took out his hanky and boo-hooed, my Mom had to console him.

 

I wish the pictures were in color, he had the most amazing sparkly blue eyes.

I remember how hard my Dad worked and what a wonderful provider he was for his family. What I remember above all was how much he loved his family. Daddy spoke with his eyes, they could laugh without making a sound. I would love to watch my Dad look at my Mom and her looking at him. Not a word was spoken but you knew without a doubt how much they loved each other that gives a child so much security to see how their parents love each other and boy did mine love each other.

My Dad made me feel loved and protected. I knew Daddy would fix it if anything would go wrong. I knew I was beautiful in his eyes.

 

He put a penny in my shoe and helped me with my garter.

I remember when my oldest son had his daughter (who is the most precious little girl alive) I watched as he leaned over the isolette and he bowed his head. I asked him later was he praying and he told me , “I am a blessed man, I was thanking God!" I knew that he was going to love his little girl just like my Dad loved me.

I told my son that day, You know you will be her first mirror. She will see herself through your eyes. Now how did I know that? Because I saw myself through my Dads eyes. I knew I was worth loving because he showed me. So when it came time to choose a husband I knew without a doubt that I had I met the right one. We have been married over forty years now. I fell in love with him when I was only sixteen yrs old so I have loved him for 43 years.

So you see because my Dad loved me like no one else could and took such wonderful care of me. I have learned to expect the best and in my opinion I got the best in the man that I have been married to for 40 years.

I guess in my heart I will always be Daddy’s little girl, I kind of like that even though he is no longer here to give me hugs he is with me in spirit and his love will be with me forever. That is what I call a wonderful example of a Dad!!
