I changed that in my new kitchen and like it so much more. I chose creamy white cabinets with a very subtle gray glaze, which reads as white but has the custom look I wanted. They go beautifully with the Calacatta Oro marble on the counters and full height backsplash. I know a different color island may be a trend, but I chose a matte finish cherry for my helipad (5ft x 7ft) because my kitchen, breakfast room and family room are one contiguous space. I view the island as furniture in the space and it works with the wood on the furniture in the family room. I have never been one for trends. My design choices have always been eclectic, so I will live with that decision and love it.

It is great fun following along with you as you make your decisions. Most important, I love learning from you about the design theories behind those decisions. I do love white cabinets but I chose to go with part mahogony and part off white. It is really beautiful and I can hardly wait to get moved in, probably in about a month.

Looking forward to watching this process.Lea @ CiCis Cornerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09252011706208068724noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5210558362945352459.post-62101400039303974242015-06-04T12:16:42.441-07:002015-06-04T12:16:42.441-07:00It's going to be lovely Kathysue. I just can't decide about the counter tops though and go back and forth between white and black. I think our tastes are pretty similar:-)Suehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07298632258557474170noreply@blogger.com
