How About A Little Black and White For Your Day?!

It is no secret I ♥♥♥ black and white. I have used it as an accent in my home for years, and I don’t think I will ever quit using it in my own personal design.

If I see something in black and white I will almost always stop to see what it is, and how I could apply it in my home.

I love touches of black and white, but I also have a secret desire to paint a room all black with white moldings…..

My use of black and white is a little more light handed….

The entry and guest bathroom flooring is black and white marble.

In the guest bathroom is where you will see the most black and white in my home…….

Even the exterior of my home has a light touch of black and white……..

I used a black and white  awning stripe as a curtain to accent my small porch area.

In the striped dining room I chose to use black in the chandelier, pedestals and the monograms on the chair covers.

As you can see my home is decorated in Spring-like colors, but I still chose to ground it with a touch of black and white.

I use black picture frames, and I also use some black accents in decorative items such as lighting……

Black and white will always be a favorite of mine. If you are afraid to use it as a major player in your home, use it as I have, and use it with a light touch.

If you would like to see more black and white inspiration you can go to my Pinterest boards and get lots of ideas on how to use black and white! Just click on the words below!

  7. I love using black in any room! I learned from a fabulous designer years ago that every room should have a touch of black in it! My son's bathroom cabinets are painted African Sky or something like that and they are the best looking cabinets in the house! Loved all of your pictures and love your black and white toile wallpaper! thanks for sharing this!

  8. Black and white are perfect foundations for any design since you can add color when you please. You must have loved Celerie Kemble's new book all about this great color combination! Hope you had a happy 4th, Kathysue.

  11. I also love black and white and would love black walls with white molding but alas my home is too small for that look. I enjoy seeing photos of your happy home and your use of black and white as well.

  13. I use to be (not that long ago!) so afraid of black in the house! And then, ever since all of you wonderful lady bloggers enlightened me I have painted my hutch and bar stools black! Love black and white stripes now (am no longer afraid) and your wallpaper is beautiful!

  14. I have always thought black and white was such a classic/classy combination. I had a bathroom that was black and white way back in the 70's. I don't have much of it in this house but I do like it. xo Diana

  15. I am a big fan of black and white and have used quite a bit in my home. My next {of many} project is to paint my grandsons' room black and white. I am going to use board and batten, white, with the top third of the wall black. The boys' beds will be black and white with their currant favorite color as their sheets. Looks great in my head, we'll see how it turns out!! lol
    Thanks for sharing.

  16. I'm so drawn to high contrast like this when looking at photos, books, blogs etc., but shy away from using in my home. I think I'm too cautious!

  18. Kathysue, I've just popped over from your comment on Slim Paley.

Love your outdoor drapes and the mirrors and pedestals in the dinning room.

I have collections of white iron stone, black, and black & white pottery featured in our family room tv/bookcase. Also many of my paintings are framed in black.
    Great to find you. :-)

    Cheers!
