Is It Too Early For,"SPRING FEVER!?"

Do you ever have one of those days where you look around, and everything in your home bothers you? I know that it is just a mood, because I truly love my home.

I also know that it is part of the season, you know right at the tail end of winter, and Spring is just around the corner.

During this time of year I want to open the windows, clear off all surfaces, and live with less visual clutter.

Obviously it is still too chilly to do that, but the desire is there, and therefore the frustration sets in.

I also made another observation! It think looking at Pinterest, and having so much visual stimulation is another part of this mood. Once I get off the computer, and see more visual stimulation it kind of unnerves me!

My home is pretty edited, but I understand when a person has looked at patterns, and rooms full of beautiful elements the eyes need a place to rest. That usually means no pattern, and very few elements around.

Realistically I will not be changing my homes décor, after all I truly love it, but there are a few things I would love to change that will not be happening this year.

I won’t drone on, and on about how I want my blue and white ticking striped sofa, if you have read my blog for any length of time you know that is on my wish list. This year we are getting a new bed so the sofa will have to wait for another year!

I am not one that likes to sit around, and stew about things like this. I will give myself about one day, and then I take the bull by the horns, and do something constructive.

That is where blogging is so helpful. I find I can sort out my ideas here with all you wonderful likeminded readers.

So, this is what I am thinking…. Time to look in each room and make a list of what I can realistically do this year.

I am going to put on my designer hat, and pretend that I am a client, and see what advice I can come up with for myself.

Room by room!! Step by step!!

The other thing I think I need to do is get outside, and do a little Spring planting on my front porch.

Being out in the fresh air with nature is always so healing for me.

Tulips and hyacinths are at the nurseries already and they make me happy just seeing their beauty!

I think what I have is Spring Fever! Are you starting to feel the same way?

Hi Kathysue- I just got home from FL and I have Spring Fever all right! It is so hard to leave the lushness of the South and come back to a snowy day. I am going to be editing each room this Spring, too. We are planning on selling this year (hopefully) so I need to do that. And I also need to give our front beds a good cleaning out and sprucing up. We can't plant outside here until after Memorial Day. That is just SAD! xo Diana

I've had spring fever all winter...because it has really been the winter that wasn't. Oh we have had a few days of snow and bitter cold, but many more have been almost warm. I loved it. I noticed yesterday that my tulips and iris are coming up...which worries me a bit as we aren't nearly out of the woods for a deep freeze!

Sometimes making a list is the best thing. That way you can realistically decide what is in the budget and what's not. I think not knowing is worse than finding out you can't afford something. When I get prices/estimates I always feel much better. And that process starts with a list. I think we're all victims of a little spring fever. The beauty and inspiration on Pinterest is wonderful but it can make you a bit discontented. (Is that a word? Well...you know what I mean.) Have fun with the list and good luck!

If we could have three seasons and leave summer out, I would be so happy! We haven't had winter here, but I do love planting and harvesting!
Beautiful images, Kathysue.

the fever spiked about a month ago, and the only prescription? more tweaking! more clearing out the clutter! more dreaming and designing!

omg the sliding barn door is incredible, and my husband just built 2 of them for our family room--we are not ones to hibernate all winter!

Oh, I am LONGING for Spring, flowers, being outside, fresh air and new decor. I love lightening up in the Spring and went shopping today to see what is out there that I want to use. I have some plans and will go back next Tues. because the palce where I used to work puts everything on sale for "early birds" on Tues. mornings. Have a great week, KS. XO, Pinky

Oh even though it is warm here, the yard looks terrible. We didn't overseed, so it is just brown looking and a ton of dead plants in pots that need to be redone. Yes, I am so ready for something different. Hugs, Marty

It's a relief to know that there are a few of us who get in this zone! Maybe it is over-visualizing, pinteresting happily along until I realize that I'm looking at my home with a too critical eye and wanting to change this and that, editing more and more. But if I listen more, pause more, celebrate what I do love, my home just seems relieved!

I was having much the same decorating dilemma this morning: TOO MUCH STUFF!! And then, when I tried to pare it down, I missed the STUFF. My answer? Spring cleaning!
UGH! Okay, not fun but certainly necessary. First the house and then the garden. Guess I won't be spending alot of time reading blogs or playing on Pinterest. :(

Par for the course this time of year everything looks blah! Wait until the leaves come out and the windows are washed. Until then- be brave

Think a lot of us start getting antsy, as winter drags on, thankfully almost over....and spring beckons. Nothing like opening up those windows and seeing things sprout for the first time.....I love spring cleaning. Even if a new sofas not in the cards, you can still freshen things up, by adding a fresh pillow or two, fresh flowers, a few new books on your table,etc...amazing how even a few new objects or a little bit of nature can make things feel so fresh and new.

I think we all have those moods, but you manage to put a positive and optimistic spin on it. Kudos to you! I like to have a dinner party when I feel that way. Cleaning, lighting candles, and seeing things through other peoples eyes does wonders for me!

I have spring fever too. It's going to be warm tomorrow, so throw open the windows and let the air in. Then go plant some flowers. I plan on doing exactly the same thing!

I'm always ready for Spring on Jan 2nd. It's been pretty nice here in the midwest so I'm really ready. I'm still cleaning stuff out and getting rid of stuff. I'm pretty sure the minute I get this house how I like it, we'll move. It's still fun though!

Never too late for Spring Fever!!...I try to bring Spring into the house as early as I can!...My idea of Spring Cleaning at this moment is finally putting all the Christmas decorations away (I have so many to put away!).....
